Heads up! Aluminum shortage here. | |
Catnip User ID: 78245071 United States 06/08/2020 05:23 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I went into the Wal Mart in Princeton NJ earlier. When I went down the aisle with soda on one side and bottled drinks on the other, there was a Pepsi vendor standing there looking at the shelves which were half empty in front of him. Quoting: Prayandprepare000 I asked if Pepsi is having supply problems and he said "yes, they can't get aluminum now". I realize we can live without soda cans. But for many of us there are all kinds of aluminum products that might be good to stock up on. Foil, disposable pans. A great deal of manufacturing relies on aluminum parts. Our terrible action in outsourcing aluminum manufacture to China is just one more thing that is going to bite us for months at a minimum, along with meds and so many other items. I guess its because of fencing. Lots of people getting fences built or barricades being built. Aluminum also keeps 5G out. It can't penetrate aluminum. Last-mile supply issues should have been satisfied by now, there's something else going on. I don't know what, but there's something. Quoting: not-a-canadian here in my neck of the woods in canada... i've heard a lot of suppliers and manufacturers are short of staff so pumping out the supply takes longer and shipping it also. so they actively choose to supply the bigger chain stores before the smaller store chains and mom/pop shops.. hope this helps. i found this out while at my local butcher.. they were getting shorted on the "round" cut of the cows because of staffing issues and the meat over here in canada is heavily centralized.... even slaughterhouses are centralized, gov' doesn't want to hire more inspectors so all the cows go through these now so because of this... these places have been sending the |round| to the big chain stores first and giving the finger to all the butcher shops. they were lucky if they would get 1-2 every 2 weeks and my butcher shop is a big one in the area they supply all the nursing homes and school and many restaurants on top of it. |

I sell cans to wine, spirits, beverage and beer accts There is such increased need for cans that the mfg for Pepsi is Crown and Cork mfg. They never have increased operations. And they are behind their capacity to produce. It's not aluminum shortage at all. Ball corp increased operations and is doing fine with capacity. Pepsi just took the cheaper mfg to do a contract with. I have been moving cans from Cork and Crown to have Ball produce my orders for customers It's the huge demand for anything and everything to go into cans Production is beyond capacity for formats are 250ml and 187ml. Lead time is 1 year. Not due to aluminum but plant CAPACITY 19.2 are only ran every other month in Mexico. We do not even mfg this can format in the USA. So I suspect capacity will max out soon as Mexico is the only location for the entire US to produce these cans Rest at ease. Aluminum is NOT the issue folks |
