My fiance is stuck in Ushuaia- no planes out and back to Cipoletti. The government there is crazy saying no flights until September and that’s not including incoming international flights yet. She cant go home until then and the universities are not doing classes online for veryone and pushing them back an entire year. This cannot continue. Argentina will never recover for a decade and they cant keep us seperated that long. Soon, there will be civil war if they dont stop this shit. You need special permission to drive in your own car. Only the driver is allowed in the car. Some businesses have been allowed to reopen, but only with protocols approved by the health department and thru delivery. Not many have. People are leaving cities on foot, no transportation between cities allowed, except for cargo trucks. Airports are closed. GDP is expected to drop at least 15% this year while we have one of the biggest death counts in the world. People are dying from other causes too, as there are no elective surgeries or doctors visits. Everything is being regulated. We now have laws for riding bycicles, exercising alone or walking your kids. Still think your place is worst in the world? The only good that is coming out of this is that I'm saving a lot. Yes, they have an alarming number of cases and still rising from what I can see. Also, they have a very low testing rate and a catastrophically high percentage of positive test results, so the real number of cases is far higher than the 800,000+ currently being reported. But it is a country of well over 200 million in population and the economy has been expanding rapidly in recent years. The country has a young population and maybe will wind up with 150,000 deaths or so, before it's all over. But in the long run it won't matter much for Brazil's future, which looks bright. |

Much of the architecture there is well over a hundred years old. It was like a sophisticated European city in South America. So much of the arts, culture, sciences, industry in that country but today it is just a shadow of its former self. |
