The West dropped an entire section of what the Apostles taught because of Thomas Aquinas and "Divine Simplicity" which is exactly what led to atheism in the West. You can' remove the essense/energies distinction. I went Orthodox 2 1/2 years ago. Was Byzantine Catholic, but got fed up with all the political correctness being preached instead of the Gospel.
