You are correct. The young Biden had earlobes that were unattached, dangling (but not excessively so). However, when you age your nose and ears 'grow' as you the cartilage continues to grow until the day you die.

He should have had floppy, long earlobes but did not.


And another really interesting thing, I know with digital TV, it can warp the picture, but during part of his speech, his earlobe area was fuzzy although the rest of his face was not. I didn't watch much of the speech, but I saw what I saw. And, when he walked to the podium, he had a very unusual gait.
