Did Christ take the sword against those who crucified Him?
If a servant is no greater than His master than we ought to follow His way.
Barnabas was the zealout and wanted to kill the Roman occupants, however Jesus taught him to live by the sword is to die by the sword essentially.
I am telling the truth.
Love and pray for your enemies. This is not optional for the Holy Spirit filled believer.
44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
You can't "love your enemies" as they slaughter you though.
It seems most Christians have never read the Bible. Christ prayed for the people who slaughtered Him in a most barbaric way. And it is not just that they slaughter a human, they slaughtered God who created them, who loved them into existence. That is the irrational love of God. That is what we are supposed to follow.
If you don't agree with this, that is fine, but do not call yourself a Christian if you don't believe Christ's teachings.
We are to fight a battle, but not with material weapons against material opponents. Our fight is spiritual in nature. we must fight in the spirit, we must conquer with love those who oppress us with hate.
Jesus said this repeatedly, and then physically demonstrated that he wasn't just chatting breeze. He meant what he said by living it.
But there is nothing to worry about, see? He ended death. Christian warriors cannot experience death. We are immortal. We may be blown up, burned, shot, strangled, whatever malice fills the hearts of our human oppressors, but we will have eternal life with Christ.
If that doesn't make sense to you, or you reject it. Again, it is the core of Christ's message, and maybe you are not the Christian you thought you were. Maybe you believe you can meet out justice, that you can exercise vengeance. If you hold these beliefs, you are not in accord with Christ.
Christ's ways are foolishness to the world. You seem to be of the world. You seem to be divided. We are to give our lives as a testimony to Christ. Many, millions, maybe more will be killed for their refusal to denounce Christ. This was written. We are entering this time period, it really appears. That is great news for Christians. It is so awesome to be finally done with this fight. This fight against infecting spirits, who slither their way into us, filling us with righteous indignation at their evil.
Christ can protect what needs protecting substantially better than you, or do you think you are more capable than Christ?
