Section 8 is bad but nothing as bad as it could be.
What we have in the US is more closer to government controlled zoning that protects the middle, lower and upper class from each other.

Free Market Capitalism would be worse.

In Mexico City, they follow free market capitalism more closely where you have shacks and cheap housing all mixed together right next to wealthy sky rise apartment complexes.

The problem in America, is everyone wants to live in a first world country but want third world labor not only abroad to enrich themselves and their stocks, but also here at home where wages have been stagnant for many in the lower class.

This all has consequences.
