Very sad. Beautiful plane!

Queen of the Skies!!

Boeing will regret this - ending their most reliable plane but desperately trying to salvage that disaster 737 Max program.

This one looks like she's trying to escape the boneyard. verysad

Boeing hasn’t told employees, but the company is pulling the plug on its 747 jumbo jet, ending a half-century run. The last 747-8 will roll out of a Seattle area factory in about two years,
@juliejohnsson
reports.

Man! I used to have a lot of respect for that company. Not anymore.

What the hell happened to them?

Oh - China. That explains everything.

"President Xi Jinping visited Boeing's factory in Everett, Wash., on Sept. 23. The factory is Boeing's production site for the 747-8, 767, 777 and 787 Dreamliner. For more than 40 years, Boeing has partnered with Chinese stakeholders to support development of China's air transport system. Today, more than 50 percent of commercial jetliners operating in China are Boeing airplanes."

No, not customary.

But since someone systematically one starred all these threads, I decided that they deserved a second chance.

I was re-watching the Mt. Rushmore celebration and they got a sweet air-air video of AF1's flyby.

That plane is soooo beautiful! I just love 28000 and 29000!

Starts at 1:41:30. Full screen for AF1 and Mt. Rushmore in the same frame.

THE plane of the jet-setter era: it will be like the Concorde a symbol of a bygone era in passenger planes.

My father was an airline captain, so that's where I get my admiration for these planes. He flew for United before I was born, but then moved to a regional airline when they wanted him to move back east. He just flat-out wanted to stay on the west coast.

That airline didn't fly B747's though. I asked him a few times to please go back to United to fly them, but he wouldn't do it. Damn!

I'm glad we will still get two new ones for AF1 before the end though. I'm looking forward to those, but I'll miss these two girls.
