FU to the Senate The whole thing may be fucked up but don’t take it out on those on unemployment. They’re not “sitting on their ass at home” by choice. Quoting: Rev Woo-Woo My job wouldn't have required me to be around a lot of people . Alot of people in my boat that got unemployed because of the stupid oil price/supply manipulations cooked up between the Saudis, Trump and the Russians. They had it as one pint where well owners were having to PAY to have their oil taken away and stored. They are running us out of business. My job is in the oilfield but it's doing site clearance work using shrimp boats to clean up oil platform sites once the site has been removed. The projects are mandated by the government so shrimpers don't bust their nets so it's not reliant on the price of oil per say but the government allowed the oil companies to postpone all their required work for a year due to covid19 and since its seasonal the work won't start back up till next summer. FU to the Senate Sorry to burst your bubble, not everyone wants to sit home. $600 is not close to what some people were making even w unemployment. Unemployment in Florida is $275; not sure of other states. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 36728590 It's actually 600 plus in case of florida 275 So 875 weekly Which is more than most low wage people earn If some are only making 30p, 400, 500, 600, 700 weekly working buy vam get 876 sitting home then why wouldn't they? Plus they pay no income tax I dont think |

FU to the Senate so while these idiots are taking a vacation, Pelosi, Mitch, and some of the other senators are negotiating on the next package that the White House treasury Steven Mnuchin said would be agreed on and signed by Trump before July 31st. So we all know the people who actually risk everything by working got nothing but the one check of 1200. Those who were laid off got 600 a week to do nothing. Now the updates behind the scenes has the Republicans agreeing to an extension of the unemployment benefits again to those who wont get off their ass. In return, not only will the stimulus check go to those who make 40k or less, but it will now be smaller than the $1200 amount. So once again the Government screws the people who are working, while your neighbor sits on his a$$ at home and collects free effing money every week. If they pass this like this, Eff all of them. I will be voting every idiot I can that approves this. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75133552 My wife is an NP works in hospital with covid pts They dont get any kinds of bonuses for risking their lives daily Not only that but their annual pay wages they get arent happening this year So, the nurses and NPs, CNAs who risk their lives faily and their family lives daily dony get a bonus, hazard pay, and got fucked out of a raise this year This is a North Carolina Hospital not sure about other hospitals you talk about being screwed with bo appreciation You would think the bill would include some kind of hazard pay for people working directly with covid pts, but nope, it doesnt Yet, people who choose to sit on their asses all day in their basements away from the covid get extra money to do so How the fuck does that make any sense? There are jobs out there if you want one |

I made anywhere between 2500 and 4000 a week in the oilfields. It is not unusual for a person in my profession to earn 200,000 a year after taxes, and how much I make is determined pretty much as a direct correlation to the price of oil. Anything below 40 a barrel and Texas is thunderfucked.. I'm not making shit now and I probable wont before I die. I am eligible for their self employed benefits but have been repeatedly denied. I can confirm this. Some of my family are oil workers in Louisiana and some work in the pipeline from up north. They get paid big bucks, per diem, and for their equipment. This isn't the America I want to live in if the hard working Americans that have given there everything to the country to make it great are left in the dirt while the rich get richer and the middle class go on welfare. I've applied for jobs. I've gone to interviews. All the feedback I'm getting says, "Sorry we're looking for someone that we know won't leave us the second their profession is back." FU to the Senate Who are these people making 2-4k a week, and who are these minimum wage corporate ballswingers thinking 600 a week is a lot of money? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79024797 I work in live entertainment so every concert or mass gathering is my profession. Started off working for local bands and what not and are now working for A-list artists. I'm at the top of my profession as an audio engineer mixing shows. We can make up for 5k a week working for acts like Garth Brooks, Toby Keith, etc. We're roadies. Roadies make a good amount of money but it's brutal work that's really hard on our bodies. We work for 3-4 months at time, get a few weeks off, and then back out on the road. Many of us don't even get to spend time with our families, we simply send money back home to support our families. I'm starting to fall into a funk. All I know is working non-stop. I've never not be able to support my family. I've never not been on the road. I want to go back to work so badly and it's becoming increasingly more depressing watching this continue to unravel. I'm not on unemployment by choice. Like I said previously, I've been applying for whatever job I can find but nothing pays anything remotely the same in order to support us and I've actually had people laugh and say that they are looking to hire people they know won't quit the moment their jobs are available again. I didn't qualify for the stimulus because I made too much in 2019. Ok, no biggie.. but now I've been out of work since March. We're now 1/2 way through July and the only income I've made is unemployment and that's being shut down too so I go from 4-5k a week to $450 a week because a large group of assholes that were already jobless refuse to go back to their minimum wage jobs so that they can use and abuse the system. Things are about to get really really interesting. Those of us that have paid into it for 20 years and never in a million years thought they would actually need to receive help are about to get the boot. We are being told unofficially that I won't work again in my industry until Fall 2021. |

What the gentleman poster you quoted is dealing with is exactly the ending of an economic scale in a society. Employers are no longer looking for smart, hard working, or even educated people in high demand. What they really want when the say "Sorry we're looking for someone that we know won't leave us the second their profession is back “, is “we are looking for someone who is willing to be underpaid, overworked with no chance of promotion that we can treat like literal shit for a long time to come, then fire without cause with no benefits, and won’t cause a stink. This type of society in reality isn’t capitalism. True capitalism is nobody ever gets a bailout. We have been engaged in corporate welfare in this country for nearly 2 decades. These companies then give kickbacks to the political elite. If it were totally up to them and they could get away with it they’ed alll be walking on streets of 14 carat gold and we’d alll be beaten with bull whips. |
