This monster storm predicted to have 125 knot / 143 mph winds at landfall. The wind from this monster storm is not the main concern. It is the copious amounts of rain predicted to fall west of Shanghai province that will be the biggest test yet for the structural integrity of the Three Gorges Dam. If this dam were to let go it would be the worst man made disaster in history. 75 million people live downstream of dam.

The backflow of the dam extends a distance of 365 miles into a very seismically active area. There is great uncertainty as to how these fault lines will react to the added weight of millions of gallons of water. Here is a map detailing the seismically distressed area.
