There is no requirement for a medical evaluation to become president, but in recent elections many presidents have done one as proof to being “fit” to run the country.

This should never be a requirement though, because as we saw in 2016 they tried to armchair diagnose Trump as unfit, even after he spoke on his medical evaluation which revealed him to be in good health.
