That, and try to keep the joints moving as much as you can. I've got some pretty bad knees, but I started seriously bicycling back in my 20's, and now in my late 30's they are actually much less painful, unless I skip the cycling for a few days. |

Antioxidants, on the other hand, are chemical compounds that have been shown to prevent, stop, or reduce oxidative damage. Jdd User ID: 289550 Canada 10/05/2007 03:00 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Other than just using the various aching joints regularly, I find moist heat works the best for me. The easiest means of application I've found is a flax seed bag (or several of them). Get a few pounds of flax seeds from your grocery bulk section. Just the cheap brown ones... not the golden, pricey ones. Sew a simple bag, stitching all four sides, preferably of heavy double-quilted fabric. Before sewing the last corner shut, fill the bag with flax seeds. Leave some room, so the bag's flex enough to lay over knees, etc. Stitch it shut completely. Heat it in your microwave oven. A bag weighing about 2 lbs. should take about 3-1/2 minutes on high (depending on your microwave). When you take it out it'll be moist from the oils being released. Both the heat and the oil work wonders on my arthritis. You can throw the bag into bed like a hot water bottle, but it's far better. Not only is the moist radiant heat wonderful, but the oil traps the heat for a long time. And, the flax oil is very healthful stuff. When you wake up in the morning, the bag will still have a little in it. For you survivalists, these are also great to take out into the woods. Heat them up (carefully!) over the campfire, on your metal grill or rack. Make sure the rack's clean so you don't get food grease in the bag, which turns the flax rancid over time. (Same thing goes for your microwave... clean the glass first.) These things turn a chilly sleeping bag into a very nice, toasty bed. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 296013Crazy as it may sound, this works too. But clean up your diet first, and drink lots of pure water. Check out what people WHO HAVE TRIED urine therapy (as opposed to the professional debunkers, scoffmeisters, and shills) say about it at: [link to www.amazon.com] :-) |

Publius User ID: 308086 United States 10/05/2007 05:08 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You people are talking about dealing with the symptoms, being pain. A treatment would be a cure or a slowing of said disease. RA is not like normal arthritis, it is an auto-immune disorder where the body attack the joints and so on. It is not just normal wear and tear where increased muscle and ligament strength will help it. Heat pads and so on will help with the pain, but nothing has shown amazing results with it except drugs that stop or slow the productions of constant reproduction cells, which has very bad side effects. You wipe out all the free radicals you want, but that is like trying to blow out the fuse after the bomb blew, it is to late. You already have the disease. I know one drug that was FDA approved showed marked results, was Embrel. Overall though it just sucks, I am sorry for you. So keeping yourself limber and muscles strong like was said will keep the pain from being as bad, and eating healthy will keep you thin so you have less of a load to bare, but once your joints start to freeze up, not much unlocks them. I believe there are more instances of the abridgement of freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments by those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations. |

Quoting: Henry 193612I'm a 29 Year-old Male with this disease. Anyone out there know of any options that actually work? Thanks, Henry I treated an RA patient with acupuncture and auriculotherapy. She was happy with the results. She did have to return on a regular basis. Herbs would have helped and diet changes...she did neither. Bee Venom Therapy (BVT) In addtion to BVT, when dealing with auto-immune conditions such as RA, SLE (Systemic Lupus Erythematosus), Celiac disease,/Gluten Sensitivity, Ulcerative Colitis, Crohn's Disese, etc., one should also look into LGS (Leaky Gut Syndrome) or Intestinal Hyper-Permeability. A proper diagnosis is important in treatment. Diet change is important, proteolytic enzymes (PE) are important and glutamine is helpful for LGS. The first two items are also important when treating all the aforementioned conditions. If the patient is truly allergic to bee stings PE can be of great help. It helps to avoid pro-inflammatory foods, as well. I know an elderly lady who drinks a couple tablespoons of this juice daily and has received great relief from her arthritis. Her hands especially have gained relief which prescription drugs could not relieve at all. I have also read that urine therapy can help relieve arthritic joints and many other ailments. |
