Anonymous Coward User ID: 66319810 United States 07/24/2020 02:06 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Norwegian film called THE WAVE...best natural disaster movie you'll ever see Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79139975 The sequel was pretty good too. I genuinely like both. [link to m.youtube.com (secure)] The Last Winter is a little know scifi/horror in which Nature attacks as the Artic region has warmed and some unknown pathogen makes the driller go insane. It is very creepy and doesn't feel the need to spoon feed the viewer. |

Saint Helens type volcanic explosion in which a scientist is so concerned his superior is leaping to conclusion, bt unfortunantly he's right. It has an old school romance in it too. It's one you could watch and cuddle with sweetheart and she won't mind another guy film. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 66319810 United States 07/24/2020 02:15 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Not a natural disaster, but whatever happened is intentionally unclear, most likely nuclear. Z for Zachariah is a favorite little known Margot Robbie Chris Pine film in which three survivors happen to intersect on her parent's farm. She is such an unusual character as she's a ground kind Christian country girl, a bit naive and trusting two men, neither of whom should probably be trusted. She's so naturaly lovely in it versus being glamorous. It's a touching film as she trusts people regardless and tries to help them in a broken world where it's foolish tohelp, but the right thing to do. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 66319810 United States 07/24/2020 02:27 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Here's another little known film that starts out as a disaster film. Without Warning is a tv docudrama where incoming meteorites are detected and then when some strike, some enter a trance and start saying things. It's made to slowly unfold and the characters realize aliens have arrived. There is panic as some presume it's an attack and launch a first strike. So they do take our some "craft", and then suddenly hundreds attack presumabky as we do first, though it's unclear as their intent may have been hostile. Ut's quite good given a small budget. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 66319810 United States 07/24/2020 02:45 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Even though it's ridiculous from a scientific standpoint The Day After Tomorrow is worth watching as it's old school film where people act nobly in the face of danger when it would be far easier to be selfish. Thus that alone makes it worth seeing. Practically everyone rises the occasion. You know how Americans once acted. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 66319810 United States 07/24/2020 03:05 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This is an excellent but forgotten scifi classic at a time when most were schlock. The Earth has cracked due to the USA and USSR simultaneously doing nuclear bomb testing, thus doomed. It stars the quite lovely Janet Munro. Made on a shoestring, but really is an essential disaster film. [link to m.youtube.com (secure)] |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 66319810 United States 07/24/2020 03:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The Last Man on Earth (1964) This was later made into The Omega Man and then I am Legend, but has it's own charm as Robert Neville is the last man left and spends his days burying an endless amout of newly dead, and every night they try to break in. His situation is hopeless as he has food but why go on? Somehow despite the nihilistic tone, he hangs in there when most would just quit. It's an oddity as usually Vincent Price made bad films, or ones I disliked, yet he's very human and plays against type. They also screwed up on the copyright so it can be seen in many different ways. |

Quoting: Grove Street b-movies are welcome tidal waves, volcanoes, earthquakes, nuclear war, sharknado, etc.. anyone got some good ones or series? Turns out petroleum is created through a chemical process all the time... rather than taking millions of years to recycle forests and dinosaurs.. One day, in the future, after a century of clean energy (solar, wind etc..) Oceans of petroleum starts ejecting out of the ground through geysers in densely populated urban centers... Turns out the earth needed to be milked .... Last Edited by JADR+ on 07/24/2020 04:11 AM I'm a J & proud zio. They had this gimmick where they made the theater vibrate when the earthquake happened in the movie, so the audience could feel like they were experiencing the earthquake too.
