I was contracted there for 6 months testing large scale methods to remove the toxins in the ground water. Nothing we did worked. I have never met so many weird unfriendly people. People went missing and only heard about it in the bars. Everyone seemed like they were on the verge of death. I won’t be going back.

Only dangerous for BLM, Antifa.. etc. If you live in Seattle , Portland or So Cal don't come here. Great place to live and you don't even have to lock your doors up here, all neighbors watch out for each other. Info from a retired Cop up there I know. Many former law enforcement and military make this place home.

Bonner County isn't the area that people want to cause problems, there's allot of back country here and it's a place people get grumpy if you bother them w/ your outside idiocy.
Everywhere you go you run into one of us Ex, Former, or Retired special type Cop, Military, PSD Contractor, 1st Responder and then all the normal ones.
Most folks here are helpful and will give you the shirt off of their back if you need help, but we very much like our privacy and way of life. Most of us worked very hard to get where we are in life and continue to do so to maintain the lives we live and what we have. Most folks here aren't afraid of hard work and most like to play hard.
I've had several people pull up in to my driveway over the last few years asking me if I'm willing to sale my home and property to them, when I say "No", I'm usually told something to the effect of "You don't know how much I'm offering". My always retort back is "I don't understand why in the F#^K you pulled up on to my property in the 1st place when there are no trespassing signs and I'm even more confused as to why you didn't start backing out when I told you no".
The people who feel that we are weird here and don't like outsiders don't understand that some of you assholes come here and think we give a shit about what you think. Most of you are visitors who feel because you spend money here we should care about you and YOUR best interests.
I did well in life financially and it makes me laugh that some outsider thinks that mentioning money to me and others around here will impress us. If you saw me on an average day you would see an older half in shape guy who no longer shaves and my wife jokes w/ me that I look homeless. Most of us running around looking like that do it because our whole adult lives we were in uniforms and had to have a clean cut appearance.
If you are in our area remember respect and you will be met w/ smiles, remember all you are is some guest that we consider a pain in the ass for a few months in the summer until we get our area back in the Fall. Enjoy

I love it up here. I feel so relaxed and at home, first time in my life I have found a place where I really fit in and can be myself.

Anyone who thinks of moving up here, be prepared to adapt yourself to the local culture. If you love the Constitution, appreciate the value of the First and Second Amendments, lead a clean life, and know how to how to help when needed and mind your own business most of the rest of the time, you might fit in.
