Re: Connecticut Man Charged With Decapitating His Landlord With A Samurai Sword
...Thompson was identified as a suspect by friends of victim Victor King, who had rented him a room. The two were said to have had a dispute about Thompson not paying his rent when Thompson threatened King with the sword.

King went to Hartford Police on Saturday about the threats, one day before he was killed. He told police Thompson had been "waving the sword" at him.

On Sunday, King's friends called the police when they couldn't reach him. Sunday afternoon, police forced their way into King's home, only to find "a lot of blood and King’s badly slashed body covered in bedding."

You have choice when you have a landlord. You could Boycott or you could just off the bastard.

Good old Captain Boycott.

Rent is just too damn high
 Quoting: Jeff Hogbarnth

Well, he did successfully cut his rent...
 Quoting: Major Doom

Sounds like he cut more than that.

cruise

This is just a taste of what is coming. Wait until the banks start stealing everyone's homes, it's going to get really ugly and thats when Trumps Department of Goonland Security will really kick in.

Someone posted a thread saying what they thought all of the protestors have in common and they were totally wrong. The one thing they all have in common is no job because if they had a job they'd be to tired or content to protest.

As things get worst the "mob" will grow, and eventually the pitchforks and ropes will come out..
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79199733

I hate to break your bubble but it isn't Trump's Department of Homeland Security, it is George Walker Bush's, 43rd president.
 Quoting: Major Doom

Bush never used them to gas his own people to stop them from protesting him.

Kind of like killing the Indians so you could steal their land?

No wait, it isnt anywhere near that bad, is it?

Some might say he deserved it for trying to put someone out on the street at a time like this.

Yeah, thats why I think putting someone out on the street when they are already in a bad way is probably not a "good" thing.

Re: Connecticut Man Charged With Decapitating His Landlord With A Samurai Sword
A katana is a perfectly good weapon, but given most American guys are far larger than Japanese men, might I suggest a nagamaki which was the weapon of choice on the battlefield as it held up better.

[link to en.m.wikipedia.org (secure)]

The handle being lengthier allows the weilder to bear down on the cutting stroke thus generating more power particularly from.the hips. The grip is reversed from western style swordsmanship as the pinky is curled and under the shaft end while the ring finger grips and progressively loosens to the index finger. The hands together on a nagamaki are situated like wringing a towel to the center...with devastating effect.

A tsuki applied lower than the xiphoid process on the ribcage then penetrates the descending aorta, a classic Roman centurion move, which has no protection save a little muscle, thus causing massive hemmorhaging.

Whereas a decapitation is risky as in history using a katana as it often lodged in the cervical vertebra thus a very messy cruel death.

Re: Connecticut Man Charged With Decapitating His Landlord With A Samurai Sword
It's risky, and counter intuitive, but a man of small stature or a smart lady might use a wakizashi to DEVASTATING effect as it's shorter and practical in a home where one simply cannot deploy a full oength sword without it catching on something.

That would be like using a Roman gladius as a thrusting weapon, but you close with the interloper to reduce their reach so it's a bold move. Or penetrate under the posterior ribcage to the kidneys causes a massive hemmorhage as well.FAST s the kidney blood pressure is HIGH.

Anyone who might be so inclinded could acquire a sword baton which within has a long but not unwieldly blade wthin a knurled baton. It screws down and then is nearly identical to a wakizashi and only costs $50.

Not like the movies, right? Sharp and very heavy like the guillotine or broadsword, or very sharp, very fast with a katana.

Re: Connecticut Man Charged With Decapitating His Landlord With A Samurai Sword
Unless you witnessed the decapitation, in samurai history to serve in a seppuku as the "second" who dealt the decapiating blow, most generally it does NOT go smoothly. They picked their best friend (O-tomodachi ie Great Friend) to do it who had skill and finesse.

Whereas a thrust is better, faster, and very hard to block. Few swordmen can block a thust to the descending aorta or kidneys. It's so FAST AND LETHAL.

Just like in England.. When you take away the Guns... then the Knives come out... and when the Knives are all gone ... then the sticks become the weapons that the cool kids use on each other... Ever heard of someone using a rock to kill someone ??

For example, look at British history and the chopping block. It is made to spread the vertebra so a skilled man using an axe would have an easier time of it otherwise it was cruel.

The French created the guillotine as in the heat of the moment, an axeman or even a skilled swordsman (used for aristocrats), could hesitate and thus be a cruel death.
