Sunshine directly on my skin for 20 minutes a day for a couple months, cured me. After the first day of direct sunshine on the backs of my knees..I slept through the night for the first time in a year. Difficulties strengthen the Mind as labor does the body... ~Seneca |

Great info Quoting: wvgal57 He does take magnesium but not sure if it is transdermal and the acupunturist ... someone new to look into You're welcome. I'm not sure with his pain condition if he would be able to lay down on a lawn chair or grass/towel on his stomach..but the skin behind the knees is very thin and perfect for a vitamin D boost that doesn't come in supplement form. Something to try anyway. Hope it helps. I know how awful insomnia can get. Last Edited by Seer777 on 07/31/2020 03:45 PM Difficulties strengthen the Mind as labor does the body... ~Seneca |

We ride a 3 wheel motorcycle on days when he can tolerate it, I'm tanned as can be and he is on his arms and upper legs. We have a pool and I use it a bit, he has been in one time this year though. A pool is one of those things.....great till you get it then it's a snoozer. I try to sit in the sun myself at least 20 minutes a day during summer for that extra D boost |

You two sound like fun. :) Usually people tan the fronts of their legs..for myself I had a moment where I watched my dog lay out in the Sun and always followed it..to get his belly. I live in the PNW and for months out of the year..it is cloudy and rainy here. No sun at all. Dark. Dreary. I realized that I hadn't had sunshine on the backs of my knees..since I could last remember and decided to try it. Sleep that night was no less than a miracle for me. I was so sleep deprived I thought I would become psychotic.. People need to sleep. I've always carried a proper bedtime, even as a child..but nothing I tried worked. I was close to giving up completely. Until I laid in the sun for 20 minutes that day. The next morning was no less than a religious experience. That's how bad I needed to sleep. YEP .. the need for sleep and he has BEGGED his doctor even a mild nerve pill but due to the opiod epidemic they are so friggin tight with stuff now that the real pain patients are suffering. His clinic won't allow ANYthing like Xanex or anxiety meds along with pain meds even though they KNOW that chronic pain makes their patients have anxiety. They are so afraid to get hauled in by the med board and the DEA He is most definitely sleep deprived and he has black lung, this COVID has made us mostly hermits but we do try to ride the bike when he is able. Tip for CanAm ... the 3 wheel Spyder Roadster is an awesome ride for anyone disabled ... he has a build up shoe of 2 inches and a regular bike was out of the question. We are pleased with the Spyder |

He will feel strange for a little bit but will be able to sleep. Don't take them every day or he will build a tolerance and need more to work. They don't hurt anything but higher doses will make most pretty zoned out so stay as low dosed as possible. If they work for him you can get 100ct bottles off amazon for cheap, look for the generic, Dimenhydrinate. |

I've heard from others that opioids and Xanex are close to Hell to get off of, but then if you absolutely need it..seems like a Catch-22. My partner's parents both ride the 3 wheel tricycles to stay active. They had my partner..their son..tune up their bikes a couple weeks back. I was told the older one(they have 3) was $12,000! I couldn't believe it. But..keeping active in their 70s, is good to see. Last Edited by Seer777 on 07/31/2020 04:21 PM Difficulties strengthen the Mind as labor does the body... ~Seneca |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 77842746 United States 07/31/2020 04:33 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Due to the opiod restrictions where I live you cannot receive Ambien, or ANY other sleep medication along with something like Norco, etc. Quoting: wvgal57 My doc has tried EVERYTHING in the antidepressant area to try to help my hubby sleep He has tried Melatonin to no avail Does anyone have any recommendations or tips. He is chronic pain patient but takes very little pain meds, he gets a lot of steroid injection with varied results. He has a recalled hip which is implanted in a very complicated way due to a crushed acetabulum. He has a right knee replacement and 4 level back fusion. He recently started with severe hip pain and they THINK it's SI Joint so he got a chiropractor who is limited in what he can do because of all of his surgeriers I just started him on Tumeric for inflammation, also started Quercertin a few weeks ago, he takes 50,000 Vit D weekly, Zinc and Calcium and a Daily Mens vitamin Can't sleep at all Doxylamine Succinate, which is sold over the counter as a sleep aid, is very effective! In fact, you need to take it a few hours before sleep so that it wears off before too late the next morning. It is similar to benedryl, but even stronger in helping one to sleep. If you haven't tried it, its very worth a try. CVS has a store brand bottle with 96 tablets. Its cheap. |
