My printer won't print. It says it's "offline." I have spent the past 3 hours trying to get it to work. :/

That typically means that your computer can't communicate with it. Check your connections to it. If it is a network printer make sure it's on the network.

I don't really know how to do that.

I've run the troubleshooter, but it just keeps telling me that it's turned off when it's not. I've restarted everything. It's connected wirelessly so I'm sure it has something to do with the connection, I just don't know where to find that info.

Forget trying to use it wirelessly like that for now. Simplify by direct connecting it with a USB cable if you can.

Get a can of air duster, take the side cover off the computer (make sure it's unplugged before you even touch it), take it outside and blast the dirt out of the fan and the rest of the computer with the air duster. Use a strong flashlight so you can see in there really well and get all the dusty stuff out. It will take a little bit of extra effort, if it's really bad.

I don't see anywhere I could plug that in on the printer. There's just one plugin thing on the printer and it goes from the printer to the wall outlet.

It's ok, I give up on it for today.

Seriously backup your data just in case try to locate the sound is it coming from your hard drive or the fan? If its the fan then your pc is likely getting hot and can shut down without notice

If its the hard drive it could fail at any time without notice

Backing up your data to an external drive will save you alot of headachespeace

Actually, that may not be a bad idea. Most manufacturers have great support including how to videos on their products.

Many printers go into sleep mode after non-use for a period of time, it's probably in the printers settings menu and I'm betting that is where the problem is.

You might also want to check your network settings for your home network and make sure the printer is listed there.

Good luck.

THIS! THIS! THIS!

Back up documents, pictures, videos, etc. IMMEDIATELY!!!

I've had a drive go south and I was damn lucky it finally worked on the 100th (or so) reboot and I was able to grab my stuff before it died again.

I thought I was going to lose it all, and that's really not a good feeling!

Now I only keep programs on my new hard drive, and everything else on an external drive, and an old fashioned dvd back up for family pics and videos.

Really - DO IT!
