Re: Supply chain issues from an insider.
There has been and will continue to be supply disruptions & shortages.

I have experienced it multiple times NOW (as I am in the building & renovation industry).

JUST A FEW EXAMPLES:

- New Power washers are becoming harder & harder to find (the inventory is disappearing).

- Briggs & Stratton, who make 80 % of the small engines has filed for bankruptcy and hasn't produced anything in a while.

- Pressure treated wood is gone and when found, is extremely limited. What comes in gets bought up immediately.
Resupply is supposed to be possibly sometime after labor day (& whatever comes in will be bought up).
The problem is the lack of the base chemicals to treat the wood (thanks to China-isa-holes).

- There are lumber shortages (especially plywood & all paneled materials).

- There is no PVC fence panels & fence materials to be found anywhere.

- Composite decking & railing materials are extended wait times with some lines simply not available.

- New Window & door orders are triple the wait time for orders.

- I just had to put a new transmission in my wife's ford explorer and we got the last model for her vehicle at the regional parts supplier. They don't know when they will get more of the model, and they stated that they are seeing a lot of other parts related shortages on their end.

- The transmission shop stated that they are seeing a lot of shortages on parts, materials and components, and they are hearing the same thing also from other shops in the auto/truck repair industry.

GET READY NOW PEOPLE.

THINGS ARE GOING TO GO FULL POTATO IN LESS THAN 2 MONTHS.

Again, this is all because Trump, without any fucking plan or even backup plan(s) to handle the consequences of his bluster, goes ahead & repeatedly pokes the bear that's China. You'd think he'd have some logistics/etc team in place to pre-assess organizing/implementing domestic production of labels/packaging/prescriptions/etc before throwing hissy fits at China & everyone else.....

Nickels, dimes and quarters are made of a copper-nickel alloy, mostly being copper (nickels being 25% nickel and the others 8.33% nickel, the rest copper). Billions of these coins will definitely help in a war effort for their materials. Pennies are simple copper coated zinc and not as critical in a war effort.

Here ya go Trinity. This is an article from 2009.

Nickel Closest Thing to a True ‘War Metal’ – by Stan Sudol

This column was originally published in Northern Life, Greater Sudbury’s community newspaper on February 23, 2007

The metallic “Achilles heel” for any military and navel production has always been nickel

Sudbury was definitely going to be “nuked” by the Russians. At least that was our conclusion back in 1976 when I worked at CVRD Inco’s Clarabell Mill for a year.

During one graveyard shift, a group of us were talking about Cold War politics and atomic bombs. We all agreed that if there ever was a nuclear war between the Americans and Russians then there must have been one Soviet “nuke” with our community’s name stenciled on it. We all laughed a little nervously, but there was also some pride in knowing Sudbury was important enough to get blown-up in the first round of missiles.

Access to strategic materials has always affected the destinies of nations. The Romans conquered Britain in AD 43 to control valuable tin deposits in Cornwall. Combining tin with copper produces bronze, a more valuable and militarily important alloy. Ancient Chinese metallurgical expertise with iron and steel allowed the Middle Kingdom to become a dominate military and economic force during the prosperous Han dynasty.

Just wanted to pop in here to say I asked DH yesterday if he is seeing any supply issues in his industry (plumbing and mechanical). He said actually, yes. His wholesaler is under-stocked and he overheard one of the employees say something about supply issues from China.

"The Bible that is falling apart usually belongs to a person who is not." - Charles Spurgeon

“I apprehend no danger to our country from a foreign foe . . . Our destruction, should it come at all, will be from another quarter. From the inattention of the people to the concerns of their government, from their carelessness and negligence, I must confess that I do apprehend some danger. I fear that they may place too implicit a confidence in their public servants, and fail properly to scrutinize their conduct; that in this way they may be made the dupes of designing men, and become the instruments of their own undoing. Make them intelligent, and they will be vigilant; give them the means of detecting the wrong, and they will apply the remedy.”

I checked my local Lowe's, for lumber availability, here in Mississippi.

They were out of a few treated items, but had good stock on most all lumber.

I found some receipts from Feb. 25th of this year, when I bought some lumber before I went into quarantine. When I compared prices, I was amazed.

Look at this, and tell me it is not the beginning of HYPERINFLATION.

I work in a large luxury vehicle dealership. Rvs, boats, etc. Our parts store is out of every camping supply there is. At the same time we can't get anything our distributors are selling the products we can't get thru Amazon at our cost. They are trying to rope us into a program where people order from them and pic up with us. Effectively cutting us out of the loop. We would get 3 %. But have to handle all the orders, store them, load them for the customers...." hitches and boat motors are heavy" for a measly 3%. If they picked out the wrong product we would be responsible for the return. Small business are being purposely destroyed. There will be no brick and mortar. This will be the new normally.

It wasn't just the democrats. It was ALL of them that got us in this mess over MANY years! I watched as all the manufacturing left the city I grew up in, gutting it, and turning it into a big ghetto. PATHETIC!

BEER DOOM

I live across the street from a independent small town liquor/grocery store. It's owned and managed by our very own version of the Simpson's "Apu" (stereotypes exist for a reason!) Super nice guy with a THICK Indian accent. He basically LIVES there - opens early and works late SEVEN days a week. I honestly don't know how he does it. Dude has a family - trying to save for college.

But I digress ...

Our small Midwest farm town's population is about 50% Mexican. Most of those undocumented. The local school system student body is over 90% kids from these folks.

But I digress further ...

Point is, I walked into the place the other day and HALF the beer fridge row was EMPTY and there was NO MEXICAN BEER!

Considering HALF the town drinks Mexican beer almost exclusively, this is a MAJOR issue!

Talked to "Apu" and he said he routinely orders about 200 cases a week of beer a week, but has been receiving HALF of that. No Mexican beer in the last delivery, and other imported beers are getting harder and harder to get.

Beer is his bread and butter sales item.

Better stock up folks!

World Health Organization Chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warned on Monday that there might never be a “silver bullet” amid vaccine search against COVID-19, as the pandemic continues to accelerate with over 18 million confirmed cases and at least 680,000 deaths globally.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77390395

The state government has flagged harsher penalties for those caught flouting coronavirus restrictions, as police issued the largest number of fines in one day since Victoria's second lockdown began.

Victoria Police issued almost $250,000 worth of fines in the 24 hours to Monday morning, including one to a man who travelled to the Melbourne CBD to play Pokemon Go and another who went to his Surf Coast holiday home.

A total of 172 fines were issued on Sunday, of which 22 were issued at vehicle checkpoints and 27 were handed to people not wearing a face mask or covering without a valid exemption.

It was the largest number of fines issued in a day in Victoria since stage three restrictions were re-introduced in the state at midnight on July 8.

Examples of fines provided by police included a man from Sunshine who was found in Melbourne playing Pokemon Go and a woman at Southern Cross Station in the CBD attempting to travel to Bendigo.

Two men were fined after police questioned them at a fast food outlet in Hobsons Bay. The pair said they had come from a friend’s house in Altona where they stayed overnight.

A Keilor man intercepted by police in the Surf Coast admitted to police he had travelled there on Friday to stay at his holiday home and was fined, as were a group celebrating a birthday at a Point Cook short-term rental property.

Premier Daniel Andrews on Monday announced "I'll have announcements [on Tuesday] about penalties where ... [there is] totally unacceptable behaviour, doing the wrong thing," he said.

"Victoria Police, as I've said a few times now – and the fine data backs me up – they are not mucking about. They will continue what has to be done."

Why do people think the only place to get lumber is Lowes or Home Depot?

Those are handyman's stores. Real builders don't get the lumber for a house or new deck project from either place.

The independent lumber yards I pass by regularly are filled to the brim like they always are.

They don't care as long as the Fed's printing they'll just get a larger piece of that free money pie to make up for disenfranchised customers 'cause Trump has an election to try to win & can't risk rescinding the national emergency directive on COVID or the Dems/media/Ivanka will send him to the corner & he'll cry again....

Home office furniture is also out of stock in many styles, especially smaller white desks, as I'm sure this has to do with more young women working from home.

Re: Supply chain issues from an insider.
I'm bumping this thread.

I stopped at a local home depot on Friday morning at approx. 6 am. I am a state licensed general contractor.

I do a lot of door and window business with them (but I buy lumber, roofing, siding and certain other materials from local lumber yards)

So I took a real good look at the store layout and retail displays (I worked in a supermarket as a teenager and also did a stint as a dept. Manager for them, so I know all about displays and "filling-in" shelves when items are OOS, (out-of-stock).

And WOW, OP is dead on RIGHT and speaking truth x 1000.

Not that I ever doubted the OP, but I wanted to see and do an evaluation based on my region.
I am in the Northeast, and the economy in general can be reflected differently compared to other U.S. regions.

Yes, I can most def. Confirm that the HD shelves here are almost bare, compared to how the stores are normally jam packed.
