Walmart’s Mass Layoffs Could Be the Canary in the Coal Mine
This week, discount retailer Walmart (NYSE:WMT) conducted a series of layoffs, the scale of which is still unknown. You could forgive investors for glossing over the news as just another corporate belt-tightening, but considering Walmart has been one of the biggest beneficiaries of the pandemic, it’s a terrible sign for the future.

That’s not good. It’s about the only place in town to get a job these days. There is part time work at Food Lion though. We’re in sooooo much trouble.

Good. Walmart is a toxic company that has been undermining America with cheap Chinese trash for decades.

Still we are going to have lots of people out of work with no where to go. And through no fault of their own. Blame the government who let this happen.

Isn't that great when a conglomerate puts all the small businesses out of business?

Walmart has killed many towns where they have come in, put everything else out of business, then closed up shop.

The cheap Chinese shit has a real high cost in the end.

But the stupid motherfuckers can never grasp this.

Get some smart and bored old-timers together figure out how to make something that people need and start making it. Then get an old retired used car guy to get out there and sell it. That's what this country needs now. There's gonna be short supply of everything so you will probably do well.

Exactly. I love it! Might not be the best quality at first but it will do. "When the going gets tough, the tough gets going". Walmart online sales and home delivery seem to be taking off though.

They are scaling back their bricks retail operations quickly as they gear up to fight Amazon in the realm of online retail.

Not good for anyone except Walmart.

They also announced they'll be closed on Thanksgiving... So no night before black Friday madness...

This is a strong indicator that they either can't get the inventory to make it worth it AND OR they don't believe people will have the money to spend

Couple that with their layoffs and it's an altogether bad sign.

What a dumb article. You people realize how BIG Walmart is?

Walmart employs 2.2 million associates around the world — 1.5 million in the U.S. alone.

Please watch this film...

That anyone goes to Walmart is beyond me, they are evil incarnate.

They murder to produce and enslave millions here and abroad.

Walmart and corporations like them are a big part of why Mother Earth is such trouble and the rest of humanity hates America.

I know it's hard when they insert themselves in your small town and take over, I have lived in one of those towns, but I never went to Walmart after I saw this film.

Never have never will, and if more followed this lead they would be toast, as they should be...

The remnant of Jacob will be among the nations, in the midst of many peoples, like a lion among the beasts of the forest, like a young lion among flocks of sheep, which mauls and mangles as it goes, and no one can rescue.
