This week, discount retailer Walmart (NYSE:WMT) conducted a series of layoffs, the scale of which is still unknown. You could forgive investors for glossing over the news as just another corporate belt-tightening, but considering Walmart has been one of the biggest beneficiaries of the pandemic, it’s a terrible sign for the future. [ link to www.ccn.com (secure)] They also announced they'll be closed on Thanksgiving... So no night before black Friday madness... This is a strong indicator that they either can't get the inventory to make it worth it AND OR they don't believe people will have the money to spend Couple that with their layoffs and it's an altogether bad sign. True. Who will have the money? And you are right. Will we have the goods?
