Why did Mr. Fahrenheit Choose 33 as the Number at Which Water (H2O) Transmutes?

Why not 30? Or 50? 10? Or 100?

actually water starts freezing at 38 degrees. and it can be liquid at 28 degrees in nature no problem. things are not always 1 or 0

My guess is this: he decided that 0° should be about as cold as things get in January, and 100° should be about as hot as things get in July. Those were the two milestones around which he scaled the range.

On the other hand, Mr. Celsius chose two important qualities involving water to define his range.
