I agree the Indian variant is probably more transmissible than the UK one, but there is concern from scientists there is going to be a spike in cases during the summer....

I'm always one of the first to raise alarm when I see something troubling with the virus. However I just don't see the Indian variant or other variants taking off in UK until late August/early September... Maybe I'm naive but I can't help think the seasonality factor is not being given due consideration from the people who do the models/predictions.

Seasonal is a smidge factor.... more for rural. But heavy congested areas... or where there are houses on top of each other, in all forms....the Indian variants are gonna thrive.

The concern that I have for the US is unvaccinated kids and vaccinated adults mingling. It’s going to rid us of the seasonal debate with new don’t give a fuck about weather variants.

Here is what I think. The lockdowns are part of a coverup aimed at preventing people from learning that SARS-CoV-2 was developed in a lab, got loose (or was deliberately released) and is basically unstoppable.

The vaccines are a sideshow aimed at delaying the day of reckoning when it will be crystal clear to all and sundry what has actually happened.

The variants will continue to multiply and grow more lethal until they literally run out of people to infect, which means everyone on the planet is eventualiy going to die from the virus. Sure, some might survive, but then they will be infected with a new variant and die.

In other words, we’re not going to be able to outrun the virus with more vaccines. The reason why is simple. Gain of function virii are engineered to defeat any and all possible counter-measures. Virii don’t know that they can’t just keep multiplying until they run out of hosts to infect if they want to survive, they just keep on trucking.

Our stupidity as a species has finally become our undoing.

My theory is the strong placebo effect plus blocking certain virus causes. But I don’t see it working forever.

I don't disagree with the possibility that the variants are becoming more lethal/deadly. There's been evidence to suggest that is infact what's happening. But the what needs people's attention foremost is the medium-term.

Will be the healthcare infrastructure be able to cope with not only the future surges but those who have survived infection or reinfection but then go on to develop the heart problems, cognitive issues, diabetes etc... either instantly or delayed onset and the effects this could have on the economy, functioning of society. None of this is conspriracy talk either - it's already been happening and legit medical organizations have warned it's probably going to get a lot worse.

Basically, possiblity of 'the collapse' itself should be of more concern right now rather than if the virus is going to end up killing everyone.

The shitshow must go on.

Thing with Japan is they have many old folks living there. Probably the world's largest proportion of old folks in a population. There's a lot of concern that if the outbreak gets worse then the deaths could be insanely high. And with the increased movement that comes with staging an Olympics the risk increases.

The Jap Government needs to decide if they want that to be their legacy rather than the Olympics itself. Polls say most Japs want the games called off...

Unfortunately there has been a similar pattern throughout this pandemic. Beginning of the pandemic the virus was taken much more seriously and the deaths/cases were lower. Then as the pandemic progressed people became fatigued which coincided with more deaths and cases. I'm not saying the same thing will happen again for UK, but I can see why there might be reason for concern.



Also, today's UK cases are up a couple hundred on last Sunday's. Cases and deaths up 9-10% in the past week.
