Most schools in the US will be back to remote by the end of September. The entire attempt to 'return to normal' is failing, badly.

With what teachers? We are slowly disabling the workforce? It’s embarrassing.

It certainly is comparable to the flu in most respects - EXCEPT the conditions that typically limited the flu viral production cycle to a predictable, seasonal one - Fall/Winter, basically - are now present yearlong. The sickness, itself, is essentially a more severe form of the flu - but certainly can get much worse depending on health profile of the individual.

So, we're looking at weather, climatic, and environmental upheaval, swings, and disturbances that are continuously impacting human health in similar ways that the traditional 'flu season weather' would.

There's still peaks and valleys - Fall and Winter being more stringent - Spring into Summer more mild.

This was true even before the announcement of 'Covid' - but the conditions on the planet are such, now, that this isn't simply a sickness that is going away anytime soon 'as the seasons change'.

Some don't like to talk about planetary climate change due to the inverted way its typically presented, but it is certainly real and it is the main driver of this 'Covid' sickness - and we can expect it to continue until the waters calm, which may take ONLY a decade if the right decisions are made - namely, diminished physical activity typically associated with the frantic consumer economy and the lifestyles that support it.

This is not the time to be running wild like 'all is normal', but is a time for taking it easy, staying close to home, improving diet, nutrition, hygiene, and spiritual state - and employing all the technological tools we now have to assure work, education, and entertainment can still continue via more asynchronous, remote, and health-promoting ways necessary for the current conditions we're in and will be in for quite some time.

What's taking many down is this drive to 'return to normal' - which is impossible. Continuing to try to go back to some 'pre-pandemic' normal is goign to be the death of millions of businesses, people, and institutions.

All states have zero closed borders. There is traffic in and out every damned day. Whining about this lower vaccination versus this area that is more vaccinated is POINTLESS.

What good would that do? Delta is in every state, and every area of every state.

Delta is in Australia and New Zealand, who actually had effective border controls.

Exactly zero percent of the current COVID problem in the US is due to travel.

I was on the roads all over New England every day in April 2020, the closest we ever came to stopping all travel in the US. There was still plenty of cars on the road.

Even if you went more hardcore than that, there's still gonna be people traveling all over the country just to keep society running.

I'm looking out the window of my office right now across the street to a bar, who's parking lot is currently full of cars. Who frigging cares about travel???

Interesting side note, I know you all think I'm some kind of nothingburgerer, but I haven't been to that bar since January 2020 despite it only being about 100 yards away.

You realize the example you just posted is the 4th lowest percent vaccinated state in the country, and they have the highest case per capita rate in the country.

Here's the thing about areas with bad COVID outbreaks right now re-instituting mask mandates.

When that happens, then someone posts "Look ****** went back to a mask mandate, see vaccines don't work!!!"

Well, does anyone really think that's gonna end the outbreak?
