Don't kick yourself too hard, Wordsie. We've all got shoulda, coulda, woulda's. You tried hard, but you can't control other people.

We ALL felt helpless that day and the many days after. hugs

I have a kid working for me who's 20, and just has no idea how much the world changed that day.

He's a smart kid, but I just can't even explain it no matter how hard I try.

I imagine you're right about that. My dad used to get frustrated with us sometimes when he and mom would talk about life as a kid during WW11 and we just didn't quite get it.

I think unless you actually live through something, you can't fully understand. I mean, your head knows the details, but your heart doesn't understand the minutiae. Know what I mean?

I don't have any kids, but my best friend had a kid who just turned one year old.'
What do I tell him of life before COVID??? When he's old enough to understand????

That's the hard part. He won't believe you, most likely. Not totally anyway. My 2 oldest were old enough to remember SOME of what life was like overseas during Desert Shield/Desert Storm, but nowhere near all of it. They were older when 9-11 happened and they do remember most of that.

I think about what my grands will remember from this and how they'll remember it. I just don't know. My grandson is starting to act out, doing really dumb stuff a 6 year old knows not to do. I think they're stressing in ways we didn't think of. This is all new territory for all of us.

Too answer your question directly, tell him the truth as age allows. Tell him your best memories. Those are the ones he'll want to hear most. I remember so many of mom and dad's stories just in high school. We'd have gotten arrested for some of it in the '70's! I don't know what they do these days.

My mom tried to explain to me about living in London through the Blitz during WW2. She was in the London fire brigade as a telephonist, the equivalent of todays USA 911 system. It was the worst of times, but for her it was a time of camaraderie (when the sirens wailed during NAZI bombing, she would run into the London underground train system). Indeed, she has called it the best of times for her as she was in her twenties and met my father. He was a Royal Air Force mechanic, who saw plenty of action as many Royal Air Force fighter pilots and crew died (57,205 bomber crews were killed (a 46 percent death rate)). During and after 1943, he was flying planes he had repaired to the Royal Air Force bases throughout the UK and flying damaged planes from them.

So I guess a disclaimer… I disagree with the vaccinate thing.

It’s endemic. So unless folks are told how to proper PPE and decon…plus actually doing it…

It’s just ring around the rosies, pocket full of posies. Over and over. Until it’s gapped enough to grind out.

But with the deer and wild animal issue… it might not reach that point.

Look at all the sheep that are trying to discredit it. The pure hope

The data is from PHE and is per 100k so all the comments have no no idea lol.

The same data is used for the deaths, but no omes arguing that pount lol

Emm it already is

 Quoting: Covid19sars2.0

I did the calculation for "anyvax" against "unvax" - and the result looks even worse!!

The infection rates for "anyvax" exceed the "unvax" for all but the 30-39yo age group!

ps - I used the population age pyramid of the UK and the 1-dose and 2-dose proportions in the plots of the PHE paper.

I've got doubts about that. This is just anecdotal observations, but with all the football games, fall festivals, and soon the World Series, I don't think so. There are schools that have had to go virtual already and everyone I've seen seems to think it's all over. I'd say wait a couple of more weeks and see.

My impression is that people are very quick to declare a peak, and many don't even bother to go as far as to look at the fact that reporting is delayed from certain states, or done intermittently, which can create an artificial down turn in the numbers.

I hope we have actually peaked, but as others have pointed out, the resumption of large, crowded events is likely to complicate that.

cross-posting to keep it all linked..

My usual equine supply company cancelled my recent order. Ivermectin is indefinitely back-ordered. Amazon's sellers are definitely price gouging for the horse version ... I think some of that actually is demand outpacing supply, and people profiting off the scarcity.

Among many other things, this is unfortunate for people who own horses/livestock and cannot get what they need for their animals. It's also completely ludicrous that one of the safest drugs on the market isn't readily available to humans in human form.
 Quoting: Doommonkey

It's interesting the WHO Ivermectin Research Team Lead (Dr. Andrew Hill) said in February 2021that:-

"Millions of vaccine doses were manufactured/purchased 'at risk' by countries before efficacy was confirmed. Can we start to upscale ivermectin as well?"

"The purpose of this report is to forewarn..get supplies, get prepared, get ready to approve it. We need to be ready"

This is exactly what I'm thinking -- How on earth is it a good thing that the truth is being censored and called disinformation, just because it disagrees with the narrative that the pro-vax PTB want to push? Lying to the public, and giving them false confidence in the vax, is bound to backfire in terms of sheer virus spread ... not to mention the very disturbing thought-control aspect of this whole propaganda drive.
