Coincidence or...?

Europe's infections started their decline from mid-April last year. The same has happenened this year -- cases declined from mid-April.

(It might look like the latest infection wave started to decline during early April for this year, but much of that has to do with loss of reporting over the easter period).

Maybe what some professionals have said about infections are going to be predominantly a seasonal thing could be right?

in theory, u have a point. more sunshine since ppl are outside more. but they also shop more and congregate more. so it is mixed results.

by the way it was summer in BRAZIL. they are going into their winter now.

so is that dependant on the variant too?

Several states in the south had infections go up in the summer, but it was smaller in comparison to the winter wave which followed.

As for Brazil, they might be considered as an interesting exception because they don't have four seasons, only two.

Typically peaks in Jan-March, but could come a little earlier or later. So April/May could fit into that.

And not directing this at you Shyla, just making something clear for the lurkers who can sometimes misunderstand :) - I'm not suggesting this whole pandemic is 'just a flu' being disguised as covid, which is one of the talking points of the hoaxers. I can see how talk of seasonality might get miscontrued for that, but that's not what I'm saying.

In relation to Indian airlines..

Red list travel ban countries
If you have been in or through any of the countries listed below in the previous 10 days, you will be refused entry to the UK.

If you are a British or Irish National, or you have residence rights in the UK, you will be able to enter. You must quarantine in a government approved hotel for 10 days.

Plenty of British Indians are free to come and go as long as they hotel for 10 days on arrival

C'mon, lol. You a George? Impossible. You're not a douche.

Good news, bad news, any news is always welcome here. hf

That lab test doesn't look that bad on the face of it, but I am concerned because particular variant is a double mutant. It could well be that mutations which work together as a combination have a multiplier effect in making the virus worse in a real world setting than just single mutations on their own. As in 'the whole is greater than the sum of the parts'. And I don't think lab tests on their own will be able to give a conclusive answer for that.
 Quoting: CoronaCoaster

They actually said the double muatation is no big deal and is cancelling out some of the effects

The novel coronavirus’ spike protein plays additional key role in illness. Salk researchers and collaborators show how the protein damages cells, confirming COVID-19 as a primarily vascular disease.

LA JOLLA—Scientists have known for a while that SARS-CoV-2’s distinctive “spike” proteins help the virus infect its host by latching on to healthy cells. Now, a major new study shows that they also play a key role in the disease itself.

The paper, published on April 30, 2021, in Circulation Research, also shows conclusively that COVID-19 is a vascular disease, demonstrating exactly how the SARS-CoV-2 virus damages and attacks the vascular system on a cellular level. The findings help explain COVID-19’s wide variety of seemingly unconnected complications, and could open the door for new research into more effective therapies.

“A lot of people think of it as a respiratory disease, but it’s really a vascular disease,” says Assistant Research Professor Uri Manor, who is co-senior author of the study. “That could explain why some people have strokes, and why some people have issues in other parts of the body. The commonality between them is that they all have vascular underpinnings.”
