A huge protest is expected this afternoon in downtown Beirut. People are very angry, calling for “the execution of politicians.” Keep in mind, this is an anger that has been increasing for years. They say the explosion was nothing but the “apocalypse of decades of corruption”

Bear this in mind when thinking about Lebanon. Years without public services. Decades of war. Buildings still bearing scars from three different wars in living memory. Garbage lining the streets. Two or three hours of electricity a day. Institutionalised political corruption.

Imo, it will be successful.


Hezbollah and Aoun will be the losers.

Given events, I have re-pinned this myself.

I believe these are very important events for the Middle East and perhaps the world.
