I'm retired and struggling on soc sec. I used to play music gigs for extra money to get by. I never made enough to bother to report it, so I can't get unemployment for it. I was really hoping for that $1200. You folks might not realize it but there are a lot of musicians who are out of work who used to play for cash. The bars pay shit for musicians, so being tax free cash made it a way to survive. These folks are just screwed. I know quite a few of them. At least I'm old and I have social security, so I can just get by, but most working musicians are young.
The Dems are insane. God only knows what Pelosi will do in reaction to this upstaging of her power. She must be livid. How much will she make people suffer to block Trump?
I used to be a Dem. Most musicians I know have turned into Libertarians. I do know a crowd who think they are hippies who do free gigs to raise money for the local dems. I have to avoid them. It's crazy these days.
Even my local out door Farmer's Market won't have music this year. Some bars have out door patios they are using, and hire musicians mostly to be nice, since they have limited seating anyway. I'm in PA. The local bars and restaurants are desperately trying to eeck out some kind of living this summer, but wtf are these poor souls going to do with their businesses when it gets cold out?
People are having fun because the weather is awesome, but it's going to be really slim pickins for all kinds of jobs as soon as it gets cold out.
We are in dire straights, folks. I hope the Dems cough up some money for us because things are not going to get better anytime soon.
