This is a sincere question, we try hard, we try to make them taste good with a little butter but no dice.

They take multivitamins, and we don't eat junk but they will not touch any vegetable at all.

How do you do it?

Start a garden or farmers market and tell them they have never had home garden vegetables that are way better then the store. Also kids like crunchy carrots and cukes. Sweet peas are good too.

Re: You parents out there, how do you get your kids to eat vegetables?
Its all about spices and seasoning. Whatever my kids see me eat, they usually want it.

My daughter is just like me though. She loves veggies.

For Avocados, season with sea salt, pepper, and onion or garlic powder.

For carrots, raw with Ranch, or boiled with honey, butter or Olive oil, and seasoning.

For tomatoes, I'll either make a red wine vinaigrette and pour it over them with cucumbers or raw with Ranch; or chopped up on eggs, Mac and cheese, or tacos.

They like salad, so that's not a prob.

It's honestly a shame how little some like veggies. They are incredibly delicious when cooked RIGHT and with LOVE. One of God's gifts. hf

you've got to get inventive with sauces and such...broccoli can be great in cheese sauce or just with lemon juice, and onions are real nice in cream sauce. glazed carrots can be yummy too.

when i was a kid i liked veggies at home but pretended to hate them in school, are kids still like that?
why did i send myself to this world?? there must have been a reason.

I use to hate brussel sprouts as a kid.

I eat them now, even though I don't really like them, because I know they are good for me!

I will eat any vegetable for the same reason and I try to incorporate them into my cooking.

A lot of people don't like to eat white onions.

The thing is, when you cook them, the flavor and texture changes from harsh, pungent and firm, to sweet, soft, caramelized goodness!

They make a great beginning stock for soup.

I hated onions my whole life before I joined the army, and when they served food, brother I ate, and I didn't give a shit what was before me.

Lol.

I love to make soup from scratch.

Chicken broccoli soup, with carrots, potato, caramelized onion and celery.

I dice and steam the carrots and celery together until soft and add them last. Start them first, because it takes about 3 hours to steam them to the correct texture.

Then cook the potato's and broccoli in separate pots, steaming the finely chopped broccoli and boiling the cubed potato until soft.

Saute onions until caramelized and then create a white sauce rue using them as a base, using whole milk or cream, maybe sour cream, with some flour and the cheese mentioned below, adding water as needed.

Add a few cans of condensed chicken soup and enough water to thin it if too thick to the final product, making sure it is uniform in thickness.

Add a can of chicken or dice and cook chicken breast or tenders.

Put it all in one large pot and season further to taste. I use Soy Sauce, Worcestershire sauce, pepper, oregano, sage, some hemp hearts, and some Parmesan cheese along with some cheddar or other cheese varieties.

Serve with toasted bread, or crackers. Maybe a salad on the side.

Yum!

Kids always want something... just listen... they will tell you. when they do, file it away while hyping it: "Oh, that sounds fun!" "So you really want X? Are you sure? Wow."

Then, when it's time to eat, you simply barter.

Another way is to tell them that not all of the ideas they have are theirs... like when they tortured the dog by doing something they should not have, or whatever bad idea they have that has harmed others or themselves...some ideas are demons trying to weaken them, to get them into trouble, to hurt others... and demons don't want us to eat healthy and be strong... you can also refer to demons as dragons and talk about how to defeat them... though if you watch tv they already have lots of dragon programming telling them how cute and nice dragons are... never in history until now have people been so naive... kids like to defeat an enemy... the enemy is the thoughts that tell them not to eat things that will make them big and strong...

claim financial hardship and offer nothing but vegetables.
then start a garden (next year) and teach them how to grow vegetables.

by the end of the plandemic = nov. 5 your kids will prefer vegetables.

every now and then bbq a steak just to be nice.

in the end your kids will tank you being in shape as they get older.

multivitamins are a fucking farce. try growing your own veggies. most store bought are garbage. there was a scene in king of the hill once where hank brings home veggies from a "co-op" and bobby says "these tomatoes taste amazing!" and peggy says "bobby tomatoes dont have flavor what are you talking about?". sums up my feelings on veggies. not that i shop at co-ops lol. home grown toms, peppers, carrots, potatos all far superior to mass produced shit.

I just got a thumbs up from my 4-year old for cauliflower fried rice (he thinks it's real rice of course and can't tell the difference).

Just substitute the riced cauliflower (can buy in the frozen section at Costco or grocery store) for the regular rice and saute it with the other vegetables.

Then add the scrambled egg, and this is important, add soy sauce for flavor.

Re: You parents out there, how do you get your kids to eat vegetables?
Of all the possible flavors, textures, and varieties of vegetable, how can they not like any?

Will they eat vegetables that others have prepared?

Are you steaming them and then adding butter and salt to taste like a decent human or do you boil the shit out of them, add a pindrop of butter, and serve as babyfood glop?

I mean occam's razor suggests your kids are just being entitled little shits, but there's always the possibility you're just a gawdawful cook, and that's easier to fix than your kids are.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79248237

I'm actually an excellent cook, nice crisp broccoli with butter and a little seasons salt, its delicious, they just don't like it.
 Quoting: ~Newton's Own~

I don't like mine like that either. I like mine steamed to death and very soft. So soft, a fork will mash them up and if you put enough cheese on them, it turns into broccoli cheese soup. LOL I do the same with cauliflower.

Bake sweet potatoes, melt butter and add a little vanilla extract and mix. Use dark brown sugar, must be the dark brown sugar, to taste. This will end up tasting like a dessert but I love it.

I always loved raw carrots as a kid but not cooked. As an adult, I like them both ways. For cooked carrots, add some dark brown sugar and butter to them. Serve. Onions taste excellent seasoned this way too. Just saute the onions until soft in butter and add sugar until melted when onions are done. For the carrots, I tend to steam them in a skillet that I put a little water in the bottom and it steams the carrots done. Then I add butter and sugar.

Look up the recipe for yellow squash cornbread dressing/stuffing. I hate squash but I love the dressing. Only way I eat squash and only the yellow one. I don't like the squashes. That would be pumpkins, gourds, eggplants (do not think this is a squash but I don't like it anyway), disgusting things. I love watermelon, grapes, blackberries.

Some recipe ideas to look up.
Twice baked potatoes.
French fries made of sweet potatoes. Sea salt them.
Batter dipped broccoli, cauliflower, mushrooms. Serve with ranch dressing. You can also try these raw but I prefer them batter dipped.
Corn nuggets or corn fritters.
Left over chicken or turkey, make pot pies. Crust on top and bottom with corn, peas, green beans, potatoes, carrots, bell peppers, onions, creme of mushroom/chicken soup for filling.

Next year, put in a small garden. Plant some veggies and have the kid help you. Plant the seeds, weed, and pick the crop. Then have them help in some way to can this stuff. Snap and shell beans, husk corn, wash canning jars, etc. Then when you cook it, they helped in the process and they are more willing to try it. You can buy package mixes for pasta sauce, salsa, pickles.

I was raised like Trin was. You ate what was put in front of you. You did not ask for anything, you just accepted what was there. You ate what was on the plate or you got it for breakfast the next morning. You don't waste food. That's a sin. You are thankful that you have food to eat. And I also helped my Grandma with her huge garden every year too. Every dang weekend, rain or shine and a month in the summertime. She needed us to work that garden and she was used to having 7 kids so we all just piled up in the house and had fun with the cousins that were there with us. The garden only took a couple hours a day. The rest of the day we played in the woods and creeks. Be home by dark for dinner. LOL

Re: You parents out there, how do you get your kids to eat vegetables?
Have children eat vegetables as snacks as soon as their physically able to. Also, cook them properly, don't make half-assed vegetable dishes, then expect the child to dig in when the dish is garbage.

For years I hated asparagus, because my dad would cook them until they where a soggy mess when I lived with him. Ended up moving in with my mom during late teens to 20's, and she cooked it el dente, with butter and salt=awesome.

Same with homemade mashed potatoes. Dad was a lazy SOB, and didn't even peel them=bad taste. When I started to make them myself out of curiosity, when properly prepared= f'ing awesome.

Peas though, the texture always made me want to throw up. As a toddler/small child, was given the choice "finish your peas and get this awesome dessert, or go to bed early". Suffice to say I gladly went to bed early and my parents got the message that I couldn't stomach peas. If it is in a soup or pie, it is fine(even as a dried snack it is OK), but just stand alone, the texture has always been disgusting to me.

If a child refuses to eat all vegetables, there is a problem. Either the child is being a brat, or the vegetable isn't being cooked right. If the child will eat most vegetables but won't eat one kind, it is because they simply find it unpalatable. Never force someone to eat something that makes them feel sick or they find overly disgusting. As that will inevitably lead to eating disorders.

 Quoting: ^TrInItY^

I agree. I don't make mashed potatoes without making peas for it. Sometimes, I add some gravy if I'm feeling good and make some. I prefer cream/white gravies. I don't like the brown gravies although I like au jus. Especially on a roast beef sandwich, french dip. Yummy stuff.

I like peas. The tiny peas are the best. With lots and lots of butter on them.
