Anonymous Coward User ID: 77836929 United States 08/16/2020 07:41 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Do you feel what everyone else feels? Quoting: JSN Don't confuse empathy with sympathy. They are different. Empathy means you feel the pain of others. You are suffering with them. Sympathy is different. You feel bad for others, but you continue your life as if the pain of someone else doesn't affect you, even though you acknowledge it Stop devoting so much time, effort and energy to SUCKING AT FUCKING LIFE and things might start to improve for you. Just a thought - LOSER! |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 78027162 United States 08/16/2020 07:42 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I am an empath, it’s a blessing and a curse at the same time, The worst part is that I feel physical pain when watching others get hurt. It’s not like if I see someone break a arm I feel arm pain, it’s more like a nerve pain that shoots up my legs upwards and can be painful, but it generally doesn’t last long. My dad has it too, and never talked about it till I mentioned it years ago, he admitted he has it but never talked about it because he thought people wouldnt believe him. He can’t watch scary movies, or ER tv or movies because it affects him. It only affects me if it’s a real situation usually, though some of the more realistic scenes affects me. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77087031 I feel people’s emotions all the time, I’m used to it but sometimes I need to get away from people after being around them a lot, need time to shed negative feelings I pick up from others. It is heavy, but its needed. There is a lot empaths can do to channel the energy in a constructive way for all. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 74291592 United States 08/16/2020 03:35 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This isn't necessarily true. It is possible to feel empathy without any suffering on your part. Suppose you break your leg and recover. Years later, your archenemy also breaks his leg. You don't care. You're happy. Let the bastard suffer! But, guess what, you're still empathizing with him. "I know how much it sucks to break a leg and the subsequent recovery. NOW THAT BASTARD is suffering too! I don't care about him, I'm glad he's suffering! But I know exactly what it means to be in his shoes." True empathy isn't an emotion. It's a comprehension. You broke your leg, now you know exactly what the other guy is going through REGARDLESS OF YOUR FEELINGS TOWARD HIM. Empathy simply means to know what it's like to be in someone else's shoes. This is sympathy or lack therof. True empaths can feel the physical pain too of people they are close to if they aren't careful. |

To Heal. They sense disharmony in people and follow the language of the Cosmos without needing to learn it from books. If they are not taught how to protect, how to just observe and how to transmute energies - they are at risk of many disharmonies in their own lives - Physical Mental Emotional and Spiritual. Many have Gall Bladder problems. Many choose alcohol or drugs instead of learning to work with the energies. We must learn to surrender and to feel without the inner flinching that tends to distract from discomfort. There are many levels of Empath. Would be great to see a collaboration of what works for people - and how they have overcome what can seems like something insurmountable. Like I said, it has been quite a journey. Perhaps my stubborness saved my sensitive ass. |

Whether sympathetic or not, if you've never actually broken a leg, you can't know what the person is going through. If you have broken a leg, you can indeed empathize (know what if feels like) since you've been there, regardless of whether you're sympathetic or not toward the person. What you're describing with 'feeling the physical pain' of being around someone injured sounds like it's psychosomatic, and a person who feels that way is better known as a sponge. |

Empaths feel echoes...think of it like that. You are right...they do not feel the intensity of physical pain. They mostly feel emotion. My body can mirror - yet a turned down intensity. Thoughts...welll - we'll leave that blank for now. |
