Who fed the crickets tonight? Mine seem louder than usual.Go outside and listen and report back. Sounds like they're on the warpath.

Gods honest truth...

It was dusk and as I was walking around to the back of the house.

A commercial jet was overhead, coming in on it's final approach.

It was descending and had it's throttles back.

You could here the engines wining from the drag.

As it approach over the house, all of the sudden all the crickets around the house instantly "came on"!

As the sound of the airplane increased so did the crickets, and as it passed by and faded out the crickets just lowered in volume and "clicked off"

I don't hear a single one tonight. Heard a loud one last night or the night before though. One of those times where you're walking by and could just about point to where it was.

P.s. I take that back, I can hear them now that the air conditioning is off. It's a throbbing hum like a cats purr.

How in the world do you type the sound of a cricket chirping?

The little brown ones we have around here are sawing on their fiddles like crazy tonight. Must be mating season.
