Ion engines, light engines, Coast to Coast?

Look like a week ago, I heard about "light rockets" on Coast to Coast and that NASA had tested it. I can't seem to find anything on the net about it, I don't remember if that was a rebroadcast of Coast to Coast. I can find some stuff on Ion engines, pretty sweet actually, is that considered "light propulsion"? Any help would be sweet.
