Storm* User ID: 73542170 United States 10/10/2021 09:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's like not real yet. We would be going out to Sunday breakfast right about now. It's probably shock. Your bodies way of protecting you some. When my husband died I was numb for a long time. Just going through the motions of day to day life. Just know that your support system goes beyond the people there with you now. In the coming days, we are here too. Prayers my friend. |

Tiger One (OP) User ID: 79267566 United States 10/10/2021 05:14 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Prayers needed. I feel like a total jerk asking for prayer for myself, but I got injured earlier today, and I should have gone to the ER. As a former EMT, I do know to deal with a multitude of injuries, and sometimes I have to treat myself. With the way the hospitals are, there is no way I am going anywhere near any hospital. To keep a long story short, I have been Calamity Jane this past month, broke my left thumb at the joint(chiropractor checked that out for me), broke my nose(4th time, iced it, and it is not crunching anymore and all the swelling is gone, so I am good). Now I have a badly hurt right middle finger, with a chunk missing from near the tip.Cut deep alongside the nail all the way to the tip, with a good sized chunk missing. Yeah, it hurts ! It looks absolutely gruesome, also. Jewel did it. My little old Fox Terrier. I got home from church, let the dogs out, and gave them food. I dropped some of Jewels food on the floor as I was setting her bowl down, and picked up the pieces, and put them back in the bowl, and she attacked my hand.No warning, just got me but good. Bit the hand that was feeding her, literally.Shredded my finger. It took a while to get the bleeding stopped. I washed it 3 times in warm soapy water, soaked it in peroxide, and wow did that hurt! Put antibiotic cream on it, pushed the ends back together the best I could, and bandaged it up. The crater in my finger is going to have to heal from the inside out. I will keep an eye on it for signs of infection, and if it looks like I got an infection started, I will make myself go to the clinic, not the ER. So, my dilemma is what to do about Jewel. She does guard her food, but I have never had a problem like this before. My first reaction is to find her another home, as I lost my trust in her. She is old, and old dogs are nearly impossible to re-home. Or, I learned my lesson, and if food drops on the floor, just leave it and clean up the mess later. So prayers needed for my throbbing finger, and for discernment for me to decide what to do about Jewel. 23rd Psalm |

I definitely needed stitches. rinsed it and put peroxide on it and iced it. I alternated Dr. Christopher’s B&W ointment with cayenne (yes it hurt!)and Manuka honey and changed the bandage often. I also took oregano oil and olive leaf extract to prevent infection. It really swelled up so I told everyone I burned my hand. It healed quickly and I only have a very thin scar. Holly was a sweetheart otherwise but you couldn’t take anything from her. Praying you heal quickly. I know how traumatic it must be for you. I really think animals can sense all the earth changes going on and it affects them by stressing them out and mentally affecting them. My poor girl was traumatized by Hurricane Ida. She knew things were really off and her attitude changed for a while. She had really bad separation anxiety and was afraid to be left alone. Usually I can give her a few training treats and tell her goodbye and that I will be back soon, but for many weeks she would quit eating the treats and would look at me like she was frightened to death of me leaving her at home alone. Thank God she is coming out of that now. Monitor her or get her evaluated, but if you think this is a personality change, you may have no choice but to consider other options. Prayers and hugs for you. I know this is tough because dogs are like our children. |

Something has to be done, certainly preparing her food while she is out of the house or at least room. Dog minds can go suddenly. A friend's border collie suddenly attacked her out of the blue and did serious damage. Turned out he had a brain tumor that suddenly caused too much pressure. Terrible but inevitable outcome. If she has a vet that knows her well, I'd certainly take her to see him/her. You're in my prayers, of course. More deplorable all the time. |

Former EMT, Auxiliary Police Officer for a neighboring city,Director of RADEF(radiological defense) for the neighboring city, State certified Radiological Monitor and Radiological Monitor Instructor for the State of Indiana,Co-team Leader for the Tornado drills in my county, and a whole bunch of other certifications. I have had a full and interesting life ! I was the 2nd unit to arrive at the Cline Avenue Bridge Disaster. Google it, it was really bad. I had a police radio and a red light in my private car, as I was on 24 hour call 7 days a week. My career came to an end when I got substantially injured on the job as an EMT.I was supposed to be hired in my city as a full time Police Officer the following month. I had aced all the tests, got the highest scores on everything out of hundreds of applicants. With all of my certifications,I had a big plus, besides the fact I was already a part time officer with a neighboring community for 5 years. It wasn't easy to go from being on top of the world, to being in traction for 10 days, leg brace, cane, and wheelchair for a very long time. My Faith got me through all that, in more ways than one. 23rd Psalm |
