LAKE CHARLES, La. - Hurricane Laura toppled a Confederate monument in Lake Charles, Louisiana, just weeks after officials in the area had voted to keep the statue.

The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury, which is similar to a county commission, voted Aug. 13 to leave the South’s Defenders Monument on the grounds of the courthouse, according to the local American Press newspaper.

Calcasieu Parish Administrator Bryan Beam said at the time that the parish had received 945 written responses about the monument since June. Louisiana is divided into 64 parishes, rather than counties.

"Of the total responses, 878 were against relocating the monument and 67 were for relocating the monument," Beam said.

To add to the uncanny bullshit factor, the last time Louisiana was hit by a Hurricane of this magnitude was in 1856 right before the Civil War....

I'd say be real careful.

The storm also happened to go from a nothing-burger, to an instant Cat 3 and then almost a Cat 5 sustained soon after, right when Private Dipshit killed those two guys, and blew the other's arm off.

Well, this isn't rioters trying to tear down a statue!

Is God trying to tell us something? By us I don't mean everyone. A message to the rioters perhaps?

Abraham Lincoln’s election in November 1860 was the final straw, and within three months seven southern states–South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana and Texas–had seceded from the United States.

Which side is opposed to the president we have now AND opposed to his re-election?

The statue was dedicated in 1915 to recognize local Confederate veterans who fought in the Civil War, along with other soldiers from various towns in the South, according to the newspaper.

Which side is trying to break up this country today? Are they to be toppled soon as well?

Hopefully, it's a sign that this rioting will soon be brought to an end and not a very pleasant end for the rioters.

If we were still allowed to post, I'd make "An Ode To Annie"

Naturally though, they deleted you because you were too good.

One of us did break away though, went on to change the world.

An ode to Annie.

Now the thing about you dying, Annie, is that you're the only one who could have helped them/warned them.

The reason stated for your death was real weird too. I didn't stick around long to inquire.

Nothing necessarily worked out the way anyone thought it would.

Back during your prime, you would have naturally gone on to show the world, but they didn't allow it.

What we didn't know I suppose, is that we weren't alone in such endeavors, there was some serious observation going on that we were all unaware of.

You've found that out now though, that's for sure, and I'll be joining you eventually.

This is the culmination of what we were doing.
