Starbucks or not, people are called Baristas for a reason. Making a good cup of coffee is truly an art, and very few people can do it right.
Number one, very rarely anyone makes it hot enough. I always ask for "scalding hot" but it never is.

Latte is supposed to have a thick layer of foam on top, not a few bubbles of the milk foaming up. Very few people know how to create the foam properly. I had one made correctly the other day; it was fucking heavenly!

It starts with fresh roasted ground coffee. Very few coffees are 'bad' as long as it's freshly roasted. Coffee goes stale very quickly, that's why grinding it yourself is really the best way at home.

Type of roast has nothing to do with type of bean. I see coffee called "Colombian Roast" No such thing. It's a Columbian BEAN, roasted however you choose from light to extra dark French roast my people.

Coffee business was my first job so I know it better than most younger people, Most of the lingo today is hype. I died laughing when they started selling "pour over" coffee as if a single drip cup is anything new.

Make UR own coffee at home.

Been a barista twice. It's not a job to scoff at if the worker knows their shit. Seen too many people that didnt know shit and didn't want to learn shit.

I can't stand a lot of food and drink joints because I give a damn and I don't see it much.

Take the lid off the half and half pitcher at the next coffee shop you visit. That gasket should be spotless, and not growing cheese..
