I was in Toulon 2 years ago. It didn't feel right. There were more Muslims and Africans than French. My wife's parents were robbed by knife in their own car while waiting at a traffic circle. Two African men put a knife on my father in laws neck, dragged him out of the car, beat his head to the ground and took everything in the car. What a disaster. Anyways, they said other "non French" people just watched from their cars.

So we just avoid Toulon and the 17th, 18th and 19th Arrondissement in Paris. What a beautiful city except for those places where there are no more French people!

I have to say I never had any problem in France with them not liking us because we were americans. Most Americans just visit St Tropez and make all Americans look bad. But in Aix en Provenxe, Avignon, Carcassonne, Chamonix etc we never had a problem. As I said we LOVE France and the French people who were very friendly.
