Raining and blowing pretty good here now. So far, this looks like we’re staying, but I’m gonna talk with the wife when she gets up. I’ve seen a lot worse than this ten times a year in Birmingham with the spring storms, but they say it’s gonna get worse. Nobody in my condo complex a couple miles north of the beach is leaving.

I don't like the slow movement. Could amplify effects.
I take it you're off the ground?
Is your car ground level? That one could get tricky unless you have a multi level garage? Those can be good places if things get bad.
Good luck.

We’re at 29 feet elevation and in a third floor condo that, I’m told, made it through Ivan with just a few shingles blown off. We evacuated one car to Foley, which is about 79 feet elevation, yesterday, and my car is at ground level. We’re surrounded by deep drainage ditches so I’m keeping a a close eye on those. If they start to fill up, we’re going to get off the island.

I will tell you the ditches will fill up and there's a better than good chance you won't get off the island.
Better move would be to sit tight and lose the vehicle.
Maybe think about leaving now. With that amount of rain?
Serious risk of being swept away in a rain flooded road.
