Citizens have no agency with cops. There is zero oversight and so many useless laws that they can literally end anyone's freedom at any time for any reason.

I was once detained for 2 hours after a traffic stop at one in the morning coming home from a late shift. They said my license plate light was out. It wasn't. They were fishing and guessed I been partying. I hadn't. They shot the shit and made disparaging remarks about me in earshot, hoping to stir up a reaction for an hour and forty minutes. It was a slow night I guess.

I'm was a clean cut white guy in a five year old mid priced car. I can't guess what being dark skinned or noticeably poor in this country would be like with a few of those cretins with a badge.

I'm well aware that there are amazing people in police forces. I knew one I'd call a saint, who used his time off to visit lonely vets. It's why there has to be reform so the majority of decent people can get the abusive psychos off the force.

Sure, the protests are being used by some less than decent people and some of the murdered people weren't paragons, but so what? Ignoring the problem and hoping your skin or bank account will keep you safe isn't a good plan.

It's not a left/right thing. It's a right/ wrong thing.

Race baiting will get you no where. Race baiting derails legitimate police reform. Nothing good comes from race baiters, commies, pedos, thugs, and terrorists. It makes HUMONGOUS difference if you're hitching your wagon with demons, because they will drag you down to hell with them.

The mayor is more worried about the summer crowd - the vacationers. If the police harass the vacationers, it might hurt his summer business. People might visit their cabins for Christmas, but mostly, it is a ghost town in the winter and if businesses survive, they need to make their money in the summer months, so he would prefer that the police turn a blind eye to what I'm sure he considers minor things, like drinking and driving and drug use.

The fact is, there is some big time Twin Cities money on Gull Lake, and the mayor thinks he is kissing that ass by doing what he is doing. But being drunk and disorderly and profane merely makes him look a fool.
