one thing comes to mind that has changed things so that many scenes and situations won't work any more in movies ... the mobile phones ... think "old" horror and thriller movies and damsel in distress alone ...

if they remake old horror movies they need to do something with that ... i think LAst House on the Left had to do away with the cell phones somehow if memory serves
