military tribunals live on TV.

i can dream cant i?

I might pick up reading since it works without internet or power plus it takes way longer than watching stuff.
and seeing as how this year hardly any movie or tv show has been produced..and release dates being pushed back to next year so they can make money off movie theater tickets... i guess there will be a content drought

From a “senior citizen” in the American Southwest: I have been building up a stash of books for years. I’ve had to move several times and each time, I had to part with lots of books. I’ve been half-heartedly “prepping” since maybe 2006. At various times I’ve had some great supplies, like a Birkey water filter, lots of canned goods, duct tape and tarps! And I dont even camp but I had some camping shit too. Then in the middle of all this covid crap I got old. Got my priorities straight. Got into a practical living arrangement with blankets, flashlights, lots of food and toilet paper. Got internet and my stash of books. I even have a large stash of art supplies! If “living well is the best revenge” then I am WINNING. I sometimes get lonely because I live in a ghoul town though. Full of light-sucking fleshbags... But I can get around and I also have COFFEE. Yahoo. I intend to WALK INTO my polling place on election day and vote properly. I will wear my cowgirl boots that day, you bet. You know who I’m voting for. I know both sides are corrupt but I’m not a weetard douche.

I had a new Generac generator installed, bought more seeds, got power and electric heaters fixed in the green house, and bought stuff in bulk.

Wow those look nice. i was wondering what a Generac generator is but turns out its a brand. Very cool!
Do you have a huge stock of fuel for it too?
I have no idea how much such a thing even takes when running.
All i know is hospitals and server storages have HUGE tanks. but those are industrial things and i have no idea how long those run either :D
 Quoting: T-Man

mine runs on Natural gas, the cost of running it is about the same as your daily electric bill, and you don't lose any food from the freezer, can still watch the weather reports when storms knock out the main line.

There are so many live gas wells close to me that they don't need to pump it, so I'll have power if the grid goes down, which is unlikely as my town has a 5 megawatt solar field array a mile from my house. Next thing to fix is an old well on my property, just need a pump setup and a well house.

Yes. I planted corn for corn meal. Wheat for flour. And, have either canned or froze over 500 pounds of vegetables. In addition, I have 1000 gallons of diesel fuel in storage for spring planting. I'm 100% self-sufficient, and armed to the teeth.
 Quoting: Alsabiades

Whether we need it or not. Its cool to have this like a test-cycle for a SHTF scenario imo :)

i even bought 4 10 mile walkie talkies to talk with my friends just for LARP pretty much. but hey im a grown child so why not.
what i thought sucked is that most 4 packs come with 1 loading station, which isnt useful if you dont live together.

I'm essential. Since March 13 in the US I have not had a single day off, except to drive a child to college 4 hours away and return the same day..and even then was dealing with work on the phone most of the time. I'm already drowning. If there's another lockdown, I'm throwing in the towel or at least intentionally exposing myself to covid so I can quarantine for 14 days and sleep.

Lol..even that's not allowed. My profession is exempted from quarantine in most places. Including other countries.

Re: Any plans for the coming lock downs?
I am a part owner in a small construction company. I manage all the roofers in the company. My roofers are VERY busy in the winter due to all the roof leaks around our area. Every year I get the "Sam, I do not feel good today. I think I am sick" and tell them to "stay home until you feel better. I don't want you getting the other guys sick."

Now... I don't know wtf I am supposed to do. I typically double up each truck in the winter (2 guys per truck) due to safety reasons. Working on a roof is dangerous as is it but when it is pouring rain, it's more dangerous. Since covid, I can no longer have the guys carpool so I will more than likely need 2 trucks for each stop. And if someone calls in sick, I have to treat this like it is covid and not your standard flu?

If I have to treat an employee not feeling well as if they have covid, and they are to self-quarantine for 14 days. 2 weeks the guy cannot come back to work and what about testing?

This winter is going to SUCK!

Me personally, always having been a GLP'er and i love doomish stuff. Even now i can enjoy randomly going on public transport with a mask on, sitting in a mostly empty train during rush hour. Walking through amsterdam central station while its almost deserted during rush hour.. i love it.

So mostly for fun i now also have a prepper food stash.
This aids my laziness and is pretty positive on a financial level, since bulk is cheaper.
And not going to the store 5 times a week saves me loads of money too, because i dont make impulsive purchases anymore.

Other than that i bought some stuff for new hobbies.
Silver clay. I want to make a silver chess set for decorations. And i bought a midi-keyboard to learn how to play the piano. Other than that i got some stuff to work out from home.

Ive also already bought some x-mas presents.
Specially for my dad who lives in Germany. This way ill only have to send the package and wont have to worry about possible closed stores.

That sucks. over here non of these things would be a big problem (right now)
people are allowed to travel together. a truck i would assume has enough space between the seats. specially if you wear a mask.

as for feeling ill. covid tests take 2 days now. so if you dont have it, you can go back to work in 2 or 3 days.
They also have uhh public tests (sorry forgot the name). as in test kits you can buy as an employee to test your own workers (they use those in schools here, since teachers cant just stay home for 2 weeks)
clearly this will cost money, but still better than losing out of 2 weeks of work

In your field of work (over here) people really WANT to work, being scared of losing their job/income. So calling in sick doesnt happen as often (dont know if thats a good or bad sign in case you actually catch c19).

i guess the biggest worry is having 2 people in one truck?
Are you sure its not allowed????
is it a TRUCK truck or more like a van with 3 seats in the front? Over here those are allowed as long as the seat in the middle stays open.

hf i hope everything works out :(

But my colleagues in cities and in corporate practice are facing the same demands.we already had one of the highest suicide rates of any profession. It's exhausting..and I'm not sure which is more difficult..working 60-80 hours a week or telling people no when they are begging you to help and you are too exhausted to go one more mile.
I'm not alone and others who share my profession will recognize what I am talking about. I know this is also true for therapists and counselors and social workers right now. FWIW Covid is real and vitamin D does help your immune system function better.

Re: Any plans for the coming lock downs?
I think we can expect more rioting & fires.
They want to close down places where supplies come from so even if all the stores are open by you, if they can't get food/supplies from other states, it's gonna suck.

That's why we need to stock up.

Also, we can expect them to shut off all our power/internet/cell phones so you better know how to contact people & which ones you WANT to contact.

Can you imagine, you don't know your neighbors & you go knock on their door? Who's gonna answer their door to a stranger during a lockdown?

Get to know your neighbors NOW.

I have a wind up record player and old records for it so I'm good for entertainment if we have no radio/TV/internet.

Re: Any plans for the coming lock downs?
As long as rioting, looting, and "peaceful protests" are allowed on a daily basis, my plan is to ignore, and not comply, with any lockdown.
If I'd known I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself.
