Dr. Dolores Cahill stated back in May that our immune system is able to partially recognize the Covid-19 virus in due part that there are features of the virus that are shared by other more common viruses that are "relatives" of Covid. (The common cold, etc) Dr Cahill stated that this would explain why there is such a mild or non-excessive reaction to the virus in most people.
Despite Cahill's credentials, she was shunned and lambasted by the media and called a crazy conspiracy theorist, for saying such a thing.
Here's Dr Cahill's original interview: [

Well, it looks like Dr. Cahill was spot on, based on several important studies and careful analysis by top epidemiologists.
Here are a few excerpts from a recent article from the Telegraph:
..."it is extremely likely that most of us are at least partially immune to Covid-19"...
..."Why are T-cells that had never been exposed to a virus capable of recognizing it? The plausible answer is cross-reactivity. People had been exposed to relatives of SARS-CoV-2, which are common causes of the common cold, and their T-cells memorized features they share with SARS-CoV-2"....
..."In short, it is extremely likely that most of us are at least partially immune to Covid-19"....
..."More susceptibles will indeed die, but many more among the large, pre-immune part of that population are weakened enough to show up as positive in the antibody test. So, the death-to-infection ratio becomes significantly smaller."....
