There needs to be a regulation that if you are this out of control, they can sedate you. The Mother could have had a way to sedate him also in an emergency. The cop should have had a sedative in some sort of gun and shot him with that long before he drove off.

This scenario plays out over and over but they never change the methodology. I don't get how a sedative is worse than death.

If I had a loved one in that situation I would never never never call the police because this is what they do... They don't care about your loved one All they care about is going home safe... I don't blame the cop for wanting to go home safe ,but if you know these are the true ingredients to this type of event, you would not call them either... I would try to de-escalate it myself and if something bad happens... to me because of it, well that's the way it happened..
