Look.. I'm 100% against mask wearing.. But here's the deal.. If any place has a sign stating you must wear a mask to enter, and you don't, once they ask you to leave and you refuse, you are trespassing.. Period!

You are free to roam the streets without a mask, drive in your car, stay home, or whatever.. But you are not allowed to trespass on a property while ignoring their set policy.. If you do and you get arrested, that's YOUR fault.. Period!

I wouldn't be so sure about that. The courts, at least in the US, recognize certain spaces within private property to be public spaces. Public spaces don't have to be owned by the government.

Generally speaking, such establishments are free to set policy for anything that is not regulated by the government. Where regulation exists, it overrides store policy.

Mask wearing is not part of the dress code in most of these establishments. Its a medical mandate from the state department of health enforced by the state divisions of licensing and compliance. Typically, such mandates would only apply to the employees of that establishment as these regulatory bodies have no jurisdiction over the affairs of private citizens.

I haven't seen any local stores in my area that have actually changed their policies. I've only seen rogue, overzealous employees who don't understand the legislative authority of the governor's office and think they have personal authority to lord over the affairs of others.

Right or wrong once a cop starts putting you in cuffs, guess what? DO NOT RESIST. Work it out later and don’t make a complete ass of yourself or worse. No matter what, you WILL NOT WIN.
