Whenever we try to change it we face a backlash that kills our brothers and sisters. For us, existing is probable cause, it's grounds for summary execution by state actors. People are celebrating that the cops will face no punishment, our own countrymen who fly flags of "don't tread on me" and claim the 2nd amendment is to protect us from tyranny are cheering that the state executed a black person in their home in the dead of night without consequence. Breonna Taylor was an EMT, she was a first responder, an essential worker, and they killed her in her bed without compunction, comfortable in the knowledge that they'd be protected by the system because, despite all of what Breonna Taylor was, at the end of the day she was just a black woman, and black lives don't fucking matter in the United States.
