This is gearing up to be a clusterfuck.

Here's the thing...

I know just enough to Know that I don't know enough to come up with a truly viable strategy other than what they're doing which is actually working quite well.

There is work on essentially microwave based DEW's and there are some out there but the big issue is the azeris through turkey/Israel are very well equipped to hammer something like that the INSTANT it starts radiating.

The "microwave" based DEW's that do exist are essentially clusters of AESA modules hooked up to fuck huge power supplies that use digital beam forming and steering that "shapes and aims" the output of the individual transmit receive modules into a pulsed very high power signal.

The problem with those is that when you have UAV's and loitering manned assets overhead constantly they will pick it up geotag and geolocate it quickly and Even if you power down fast and try to move you're still going to get whacked because the antiradiation missiles they're using have multimode seekers and can accept midcourse guidance etc.

It is for pretty obvious reasons nearly impossible to make such weapons LPI/LPD (Low probably of intercept/detection)

So, In the situation the Armenians are in, using MANPADS networked Osas And very aggressive ELINT/counterbattery detection assets and stopping what you can is really the best you can do.

The real problem here is political and PR related. The Armenians could do more, but to do so they'd have to launch attacks and spool up systems behind the lines in Armenia proper not nagorno karabakh independent zone.

If they were to do that, or actively have their air Force chase down and kill the Turkish aviation etc assets loitering just across problematic borders it could potentially snowball into a regional conflict that gets really hot really fast.

The armenians aren't doing this yet because they are, quite frankly, kicking the shit out of the azeris just fine without taking such a politically fraught course of action.

When it comes to the kamikaze drones, the best thing they can do is try to use AA guns and autocannons to hit them when they pop up as well as promptly shelling the launch position with rockets or artillery.

One thing the azeris aren't talking about is the fact that the Armenians still hold the most strategic terrain In the region and thus the Armenians are knocking out or otherwise disabling lots of azeri shit that they then drag back and press into service to fight the azeris with.

The azeris are very likely spending serious numbers of kamikaze drones to kill their own captured equipment.

It's a shit show and a bloody slog but the armenians are handling it better than I've really ever seen a small nation like theirs do.
