russia may HAVE TO TURN ON SOME S-400'S AND THEN WE CAN ALL GET SOME WAR-GAMING GOING ON WIFF DA TURK F-16'S...SWEET!UH
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79180395 I think seeing the S-500s in action would be more interesting, although they're not ready for deployment until 2021.
Apparently the S-500s can hit a target almost 300 miles (482 km) away (range of 600 km for anti-ballistic missile & ABM) and 500 km for the air defence. Can also detect and simultaneously engage up to 10 ballistic hypersonic targets flying at a speed of 5km per second.
Unsurprisingly, Turkey has expressed interest in buying these from Russia, but what happens with Armenia-Azerbaijan might determine whether Putin gives them or not (he might decide they're better off in Armenia's hands!)
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72697451 Erdogan agreed to let the Americans to the S-400Erdogan has publicly granted the Americans access to the latest Russian S-400s.
The newest Russian air defense systems S-400 "Triumph" were opened by the American military. For unknown reasons, Erdogan not only announced the deployment of the S-400 air defense system in the northern part of the country in a week, but also openly announced the testing of these systems, which allows the United States to openly scan the frequencies of Russian radars from neighboring Georgia, over the neutral waters of the Black Sea, etc.
According to sources, Turkey could well have conducted secret tests of its anti-aircraft missile systems, but for some unknown reason announced the test of these air defense systems in advance, and this applies not only to the United States, but also to other NATO member countries, which obviously clearly did not please neither Russia nor China.
“Erdogan decided to betray Russia by showing NATO the frequency bands while activating the Russian air defense. It is not excluded that further Ankara will decide to show off its complexes, showing their device to the Alliance and the United States, " - notes the Chinese news publication" East Day ".
Earlier it was reported that even the Russian military, when NATO reconnaissance aircraft approached, turned off the S-400 systems, thereby preventing them from receiving information about their work, however, obviously, Ankara decided to take a different path.
