Apparently the S-500s can hit a target almost 300 miles (482 km) away (range of 600 km for anti-ballistic missile & ABM) and 500 km for the air defence. Can also detect and simultaneously engage up to 10 ballistic hypersonic targets flying at a speed of 5km per second. Unsurprisingly, Turkey has expressed interest in buying these from Russia, but what happens with Armenia-Azerbaijan might determine whether Putin gives them or not (he might decide they're better off in Armenia's hands!) They aren't going to waste the use of an S-500 or an S-400 when an S-300 or a Buk or pretty much anything the Soviet Union had can wipe out an old F-16. It would be like hitting a fly with a very expensive sledgehammer. Not to mention that the air defence systems aren't meant to work in the way described... The S300, S400 & S500 are designed to work together along side other systems such as BUR, TOR, Pansir as a layered air defence system, S500 primary role is to target hypersonic, High altitude, Stealth targets including Ballistic missiles, although capable of hitting aircraft there would be other systems like you've stated that could be utilised to do so, you wouldn't have an S500 system sat on its own without any other defences present... Also fun note the S500 also has a missile with a nuclear warhead to target ICBMs and decoys so they can be sure they kill the missiles headed their way.
