My son describes it as what could be depressing but he is treating it like an event to only eat food for nourishment and not gratification. He is trying to brush this off as a positive and healthy thing. However, I see that it is depressing for him.

The number one thing that health experts worry about with the loss of smell and taste is safety, the number two thing is depression.

But the main factor from this thing is the sooner you treat the damaged cells surrounding the olfactory neurons, the better your outcome will be. I'm pretty sure I had Covid back before the shutdown. My kid had a lengthy flu battle, my wife got sick, then I had what I thought was the flu for like 3 weeks. If that's all Covid is, then to hell with it...it hit me and I recovered. Did I get tested? No, I'm not a paranoid sheep.

But now? I'm supposed to believe that every single other invisible germ has taken a knee for the year so Covid can infect and reinfect us, even though it only hits Trump fans and is a 'smart' virus that knows to avoid BLM/antifa 'protests'? I'm supposed to forget that we knew and talked about this on GLP back in December/January; that we shut down in March for 2 weeks to flatten the curve, but have only experienced more restrictions on our freedoms?

I live in NY and f--k this state. Capital region schools are reporting out to local news outlets every time one f--kin' kid tests positive. It's a sick joke. I don't get the panic. I mean, I love my job and my family, but my view of environmentalism is this: I'm on team earth, not team mankind. And a 'pandemic,' when everyone travels everywhere because borders are a shitty joke in 2020, that only 'kills' 190,000 Americans in a nation of 330 million is not something I'm going to lose sleep over. It's not a major killer. It's not anything. Deaths suck for individual families, but this isn't Georgia guidestone territory. It's not even Dan Brown's Inferno or APrime's Utopia. It's a political hit job and an excuse to steal power while the people are spellbound in hysteria and terror.

I’m in the same boat, had pneumonia for the first time in my life last December. High fever, so high I was admitted for overnight observation due to 82 percent O2 levels. Non smoker, hardly drink, eat healthy and exercise daily. I couldn’t function for weeks.

Do you have a pulseox and a nebulizer it will help? Also have someone buy you several cases of Gatorade and keep water next to your bed. I was so dehydrated I had to go to the hospital after I passed out even though I was drinking water like crazy and Gatorade. If you are worried check the pulseox and make sure your oxygen is above 90. If it goes below sit up and cough the junk out of your lungs and check the oxygen again. A nebulizer will help you breath also. I lost 30 pounds but have put it back on. I also had a fever for 2 weeks. That is the worst of it. Waiting for the fever to break. My temp never went above 100.8. Check your temp often also. Food did not taste good to me. I did not even like chicken noodle soup. I lived off of Broth and Gatorade. I drank broth like tea out of a mug often.

How do you know its Covid19? I had those same symptoms years ago and it was just the flu.

The heartless responses in this thread is overwhelming. I understand that you think he may be a larper, but I pray that none of you go through this. What may seem like a mild flu case can turn into a life where you can never taste or smell again.

I only know the ache in my heart that I feel for my son having to live like this, without ever experiencing taste or smell again, and having to pray to God that this is not permanent. I pray for OP and all of you too, that you will not go through this experience.
