Tattoos used to men "I'm a man, this is my rite of passage."

Then women started getting them and for them they meant, "I'm just as bad ass as any man"

However, now that everyone gets one, it usually means, "Look at me, I haven't really accomplished anything in life but I think you should respect me because someone drew something on me."

Now with all that said, I don't think tattoos are inappropriate when they mean something.

Memorials, tattoos that represent a rite of passage

People who put ink on to memorialize the lives of others or as a point of pride for things they have accomplished.
People who get tatted to express things they care deeply about.

Completely acceptable.

But if you just want to turn your skin into a coloring book because you think it will get you laid or respected?
