Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 77504359 ![]() 10/04/2020 08:47 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It doesn't even warrant that ... but I have them some zinc lozenges, a little saline up the nose and put them to bed. It's totally the common cold. Grandma, parents, and the baby brother all fine. The school age kids all sniffling now. I know that the little one is going to be runny nosed all day because they just don't blow right at that age, and I might have to keep her home "out of an abundance of caution" because otherwise they'd send her home, and then there's a lot of hoops to jump through ... the big one plays high school sports so there's that complication damned if we do and damned if we don't sigh might as well throw this school year out the window with last, because it will be like this all year |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76984449 Yeah and the parents and grandparents are all thinking the same thing ... we generally know when it warrants a strep test, for example, or a prescription cough medicine ... this is none of that not even a fever, although they are acting a little fevery ... the thermometer says normal in any other year, any parent would send them to school as-is |

Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 77504359 ![]() 10/04/2020 08:57 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Last week I sneezed non stop for 2 days. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79454269 I ate raw garlic and honey and it disappeared... I think that's why I never catch it (whatever "it" "they" bring home). I make a homemade honey and apple cider vinaigrette with raw garlic and use it on my salads all week ... came up with that a long time ago, not really for colds but for overall health ... ![]() |

Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 77504359 ![]() 10/04/2020 09:01 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Sugar season, aka the Flu Season. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 13550492 Coincides with all the holidays starting with Halloween ending with Super Bowl. Get em off the Sugar and Slop diet. I'm pretty good with the nutrition in my house, but they are kids out in the world, too ... you are probably right ... viruses love sugar. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21096826 Haven't been sick in multiple decades. Cant remember the last time my children were sick. That's about two decades. Learn to become your own doctor. Iodine is the gift they don't want you to know about. There's your doctor approved endorsement. I had been taking this stuff a decade prior to finding him. Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 77504359 ![]() 10/05/2020 08:57 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | update: called them out of school they only attend monday and tuesday, so they now have an absence whereas they would have been virtual otherwise and no one would have known about the sniffle waiting for a school nurse call back i know what's going to happen the little one's school nurse going to tell me not to worry - she's very laid back - it's a very laid back school district for NJ - they have been extremely flexible and they made me proud with their scrambling to open - she'll tell me not to worry and send her back when the nose running stops. She'll nurse-excuse the absence. The older one's nurse will insist on a COVID test, or two weeks of virtual school and no sports. The sports part is important to this kid, and it's important to me as it was the missing piece of the puzzle for this academically gifted but socially problematic kid. Being on the high school team has made all the difference so far. So, we're going to have a test today. |
Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 77504359 ![]() 10/05/2020 09:02 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | mine go two days a week in person, 3 virtual I asked my little one how school was last week "it's getting easier" I thought she was talking about the lessons and was a little confused as she never struggled ... she was talking about the sneeze guards on her desk getting in her way, and the difficulties of eating lunch at her desk with the sneeze guard it bugs her if it's "dirty" she asks the teacher to windex it several times a day, apparently |
Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 77504359 ![]() 10/05/2020 09:07 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | the little one is extremely freaked out by the whole affair she recently met a new friend, the child of a divorced dad neighbor who visits every other weekend from a couple hours away when the kid went home, she went in for a hug and my kid elbow bumped her instead (I didn't teach her that, but it's ok - I teach them it's ok not to hug) when I asked why the elbow bump and told her it was ok to play and no one is sick, she said ... "I wanted her dad to know I'm safe with her." Sigh. |
