Weak plant growth, should be at least head high and bushy if you grow outdoors.

agree, didn't get these clones in the ground until july which was late.

i'll get them in earlier next year for sure!

very cool.. how does she make it?

because last year, i tried to make butter but instead i made a huge stinky mess!
it was so bad i'm going to try the ice bubble hash method instead.

but i'm curious if you have a good method for making canna butter?
 Quoting: OpenHeartMonk

have you tried dry ice in those bubble bags yet?
 Quoting: Cloven

i have not.. dry ice, curious how that works, have you tried it?
 Quoting: OpenHeartMonk

no, it is illegal here and I need to wait for legalization.

but I have heard that if you try both the ice and dry ice, you will never go back to just ice. way too messy. you can get most out of using a 120 & 220 bag with most strains and dry ice. Make sure you dry the trim thoroughly before starting and freeze it for at least 24 hours. then it only takes about 5-10 minutes.

and if I may ask ... to everyone

what is you favorite decarb method? what temp and duration?

i see the usual recommendations for 250 degrees between 25-30 minutes.
 Quoting: Cloven

honestly don't know, i haven't tried this before.
did some digging and found this quote:

"It is believed that the THCA in cannabis begins to decarboxylate at approximately 220° F after around 30-45 minutes of exposure, with full decarboxylation typically taking longer"

Re: Harvesting Cannabis in the Back Yard
there is a graph showing the time vs temperature plot of decarbing. if you are cooking with it you need to research how to decarb.

but I was just wondering if people have better success with a higher temperature and lower time? 250 @ 27 certainly works fine but it seems more of a body buzz where the strain when lit is more of a sativa effect.

so maybe 300 @ 20 or 18 would be more conductive to the thc instead of cbd conversion? or is it better to go 220 for 40 or 45 mins?

those are some great tips.. the resin is insane right now, can't even pick up a bud without getting sticky fingers, i was wondering how it would even get through the bags. i will try the freeze method for sure!

You need to grow right out of the ground.
Make a wire basket so the gophers cannot get them
Plant earlier in the year so they have longer to veg. and get begger.
I grow outdoor in northern california.
My clones were in the ground beginning of april.
I grow 5-7ft plants averaging 1lb per plant.
My record yield was over 2lbs from a 7+ft monster
Your planter box’s are way too small, limiting your potential yield.
And yes, you are pulling too early...those buds are airy and small.

But keep going you’ll only get better

plenty of videos on it. just seems much less messy. you don't have to get the chilled water and create a slush and keep it going for 15-20 minutes, then go through 5-8 bags of diff micron sizes...then drying it out ... then freezing it ...then messaging it into the proper form

with dry ice, just make sure you dry the trim (4-6) days and freeze overnight....get a 5 gal bucket .. or better 2 - 5 gal buckets and start with the smaller sized bag of 120 ..shake and sift/sort/message for a few minutes... that will produce the highest grade ... then dump all of the rest including the ice into the 2nd bag, 220 and repeat. all you really have to do is agitate it and shake it a bit, make sure you have insulated gloves. you could go with more bags say a 90, 140, 180 & 220 but it is usually a waste unless you have a lot of trim. I would just go with a 120 & 220.

.

Make sure it’s legal where you live to grow, OP.

Drones and satellites can detect Cannabis very easily by filtering the light wavelength it emits from sunlight. That’s how the Forest Service finds illegal pots crops being grown on public lands.

She uses a small crock pot. Puts the leaf into a stocking, then puts it in the butter that's already melted. 1 pound of unsalted butter for 1/2 ounce of leaf. About 5 hours on low in the crock pot. Every hour it's in there, she'll use a wooden spoon to push it back down into the butter, and gently squish it. It always comes out a bit green looking, but it works really well.

She uses that butter instead of normal butter, equal ratio, in anything she cooks. Cookies, brownies, peanut butter chocolate balls.

I don't eat it, it's WAY too strong for me LOL

She pulls the weed out, and gives it a light squeeze, to drain it. Then just pours the butter out into a plastic container, to refrigerate. Tosses the drained leaf.

She then washes the crock pot, best not to leave anything in it, as it will spoil and mold.

Yes it does smell up the place a bit, but not too bad LOL

I am not a weed smoker (THC does not agree with me, I think I just don't enjoy being high) however I am very interested in the terpines. Just like they've isolated the CBD I think the next big boon will be creating strains of specific terpines & CBD with no THC. It would be legal everywhere.

All that said, I've read the terpines that are most effective for anxiety (like limonnene and linlool) have to be heated beyond 300.

So depending on what profile you're looking for you might go quite a bit higher than 220 or as low as 150...

If you are super worried about smell just put your crockpot on the back porch. When I make bone both I put it in the well-house because of the stink.

The cook in me wonders if it would be better to clarify the butter first into ghee. It would certainly last longer.

I also wonder if an instapot would draw even more into the ghee (you definitely would not want milk solids in an instapot).
