There is no such thing as depression. There is not a single medical test proving it exists.

The old name is melancholia. It has always been noticed asa persistent state of sadness that the patient cannot seem to shake off. There is no curefor sadness like that as that is the definition of GRIEF.

What can one do about GRIEF? There is no cure, but there are pragmatic remedies.

When people came to the Christian retreat center, what I noticed over and over was that they were not taking care of themselves, nor was their family.

After days of active prayer, seven times a day, exerciseby nature walks, healthy nutritious delicious homemade meals including desert, green tea, clean water, fresh linens on the bed, and laughter, they perked right up.

The social isolation and lack of self-care was grinding them down like an old abused misharpened knife worn down to a nub. ANYONE doing that to themselves is screwing their head up. No wonder they feel terrible.

You got to take care of yourselves as much of the world is carnal and cruel. If nobody is taking care of yourself, you have to snap out of it, and do i
it yourselves.

Stop doing worthless things like watching porn, loafing, not cleaning the house, keeping all the windows shut so no fresh air gets in.

If you live in the city, no wonder you get persistently sad. Cities arehorrible places so densely populated miserable people.

Make a point of fully stretching and making yourself exerise so that you work up a sweat. At least an hour every daywhether you feel like it or not.

Take abracing cold shower to shake that funk off. Then take a relaxing bath once a day to soak. Probably at night. Get a loofah or a back towel and scrub all those dead skin cells off so fresh growth is encouraged.

If you can, plant a garden and tend it every day. While outthere, make a little sanctuary for the birds and squirrels so they can safely eat in peaceand get some fresh water. Watch them or even hook up a little camera. They arecharming to watch.

You are meant to be a steward of the Earth. That is straight from Genesis. You can't love your neighbor until you love the TRINITY and yourselves.

Put healthy homemade food in your body. Meals should delight you.

Don't watch negative mean spirited tv and films. Don't listen to hateful depressing music either. Read uplifting books and the Bible. Journal your progress.

You do the above for sixty days and watch that intractable depression...fade.
